Guest guest Posted February 26, 2004 Report Share Posted February 26, 2004 going thru a painful procedure as tattoo- I mean- even when they try local anesthetic or strips or cream to freeze me- nothing works except IV and knock out ......... I' have a lot of chronic pain and live it most days as most of us do- but needles by golly do hurt now- they didnt so much in the past but I figured I just got used to them- now though, each IV jab etc - whew ,,,, I about hit the ceiling....... but my veins rupture after they put an IV in...... and I come out looking like they beat me up- even a black eye a couple diff times. When they put the IV in for my CT scans, the vein always blows when the dye is injected - sometimes it will last long enough to get enough dye in - but otherwise it's bruise time!!!!! To make it not hurt when they poke you? Did you read the postings about Emla cream the other day? If it is only the skin you want to be numb before they do it, why don't you give the Emla cream or Lidocaine solution a try?
