Guest guest
http://www.cspinet.org/nah/index.htm Hi , You're right! There is a ton of information on this website. I love the " Right Stuff / Food Porn " (althought I cringe at the use of the word " porn " with the word " food " ) I put the link up at the top of this email, the link below got a couple letters from your sentence in it, so it didn't work. (I hate when that happens!) <smile> My favorite article was the " Hidden Cost of Eating Out " - where the guy suggests putting the calorie count on the menu next to the price. His whole point is that if we're going to splurge, let's do it as a conscious decision, with all the facts on the table. But most people don't know that there's 500 calories in a Big N' Tasty burger at Mcs. (my previous favorite hamburger...but NOT ANYMORE!) I'm going to call it the Big N' Fatty now. I used to be an Atkins dieter, so I was very interested in the " food porn " bit about the new Carl's Jr. Low Carb breakfast bowl. Get these stats: 900 calories, 33 grams of saturated fat, 3 day supply of cholesterol, and a day's supply of sodium. All in one LOW-CARB meal. Oh brother <smacking my head> I can't believe I actually ate one of those! (back in my low carb days *or " daze " if you will!) Just for fun I plugged that Low-Carb Breakfast bowl into the online point calculator at Weight Watchers.com and it turned out to be 21 points!!! So, sure, I COULD eat it. But would I WANT to? I don't think so. in CO Center for Science in the Public Interest I've spent some time today going throug the website of the Center for Science in the Public Interest (CSPI). It has a TON of information on there. I've been going through all the old " Right Stuff/Food Porn " pages, where the praise one healthy food while pointing out the flaws of another (http://www.cspinet.org/nah/index.htm--on the left hand side). The main site is http://www.cspinet.org/ I just thought I'd bring it to the group's attention. Here's another good article, too: http://cspinet.org/nah/janfeb98.htm It's 10 ways to eat healthier. I imagine most of us already to many of these things, but it's interesting. Do any of you subscribe to the CSPI's Nutrition Action newsletter? I'm thinking about getting it, and I'd appreciate any feedback.
Guest guest
Hi, : Thanks for making that correction to the link. I didn't even notice that it had done that. I kinda like the " porn " part. Makes me realize how BAD that stuff is. *grin* I saw that one you were talking about from Carl Jr.'s. UGH!! It's almost inconceivable to think people can create such bad- for-you food! I'm going to go back there when I get a chance and check out some more of the information they have there. Let me know if you stumble on something interesting. -- In Serious-Weight-Watchers , " " <hometeaching5@y...> wrote: > http://www.cspinet.org/nah/index.htm > > Hi , > You're right!
