Guest guest
Hi Amy, I can remember when I wouldn't do as well as expected - and I would be upset with myself wondering what I had done wrong. I went over my journals in desperation. Then my leader suggested that I keep track of when my period was. I though that wouldn't do me any good as I had had my period a week prior - so not PMS. Well, to my amazment, when I noted when my periods were on my weight loss chart - I had a slight gain EVERY week after my period. And the added surprise was that the week after those I had a larger loss than average. So from then on, whenever it was the week after, I got on the scale expecting a slight increase, but knew from past experience that it wouldn't be there the next week. So I didn't let it get me down, or side track my efforts. I had several friends who tried this. Some found their weight went up the week before, some the week of. But all of my friends found a re-ocurring rythm to their " unexplained " weight gain. Hope that helps. Beth > > And I am feeling a little frustrated. Guest guest
You started exercising and muscle weighs more than fat. Take your measurements and remember it's all about inches. The weight will catch up. > > And I am feeling a little frustrated. I lost 5.8 the first week, and > I knew logically not to expect that sort of loss this week. Guest guest
Amy! Don't be frustrated! =) Your body is just adjusting and a HUGE weight loss the first week is definitely going to send it into a frenzy. =) Do what you've been doing and I'll bet you have a loss this week. If you don't, eat some of those flexies. If you've increased your activity, it's even more important to fuel your body. Otherwise your body will try to store fat to conserve energy. 175/138/130 2nd weigh in > > > And I am feeling a little frustrated. Guest guest
I have to agree with Beth on this one. I started tracking TOM on my journal and noticed that I had a gain of about 1 lb the week before I got mine. Then the following week, I would take off 4-5 lbs. Also, if you are exercising, make sure you are getting your water and don't be afraid to eat those AP's. Your body may hold on to the weight for fear you are trying to starve it otherwise. Just some food for thought. Hugs, Donna M 259.8/236.2/155 2nd weigh in And I am feeling a little frustrated. I lost 5.8 the first week, and I knew logically not to expect that sort of loss this week. Guest guest
Oh, I'm getting my water I work at a doctor's office and one of the docs is very into fitness & nutrition, so he has taken me under his wing a little. I'm following the WW program, but I have incorporated some tips he has given me as well. One of which is to drink a gallon of ice water every day. Drinking the ice water burns an extra 124 calories a day, because your body has to bring the ice water to your core temperature. Also, he says there is research that shows that if you keep superhydrated, your kidneys actually function better, which allows your liver to better metabolize fat. If nothing else, I'm getting up and moving around a lot to go to the bathroom every half hour! I am feeling much better about things. I am right before my TOM, so that may be affecting things. Also, like I said, I don't fast or watch what I eat any more closely on weigh-in day than I do on other days. As long as it is within my points, I procede as normal. So I may have had more food this week than the week before. I know there will be ups and downs. I am no longer the heaviest I have been in my life, and that is a good thing Thanks to everyone for the suggestions and support. It helped a lot > I have to agree with Beth on this one.
