Wolf Mini-Maze-6 weeks progress report

Six weeks ago I had a Wolf mini-maze procedure performed in

Cincinnati by Dr. Randall Wolf. Since that time I have been AF

free. Yippee!! I still have some PVC's, varying from one a minute

up to maybe 10 per minute. There are no symptoms except that I can

feel it happening. I think the frequency of PVC's is gradually going

down.

I have been walking about 5 miles/day and have lost a few pounds

(probably from the exercise.) My appetite has been good, mood upbeat

and feeling great. I still have a lingering cough that I've had ever

since the procedure, although it now seems to be getting better.

My resting pulse rate used to be around 45 bpm. It has been that way

for many years, long before the AF started. After the procedure they

put me on a pacer for about 1 day at 75 bpm. After removing the

pacer and pacing wires, my rate was about 63 bpm. It has been

gradually increasing to about 72 bpm currently. Dr. Wolf is happy

about this as he says the long term good results seem correlated with

more normal range resting heart rates. BTW, the temporary pacing

wires are a standard part of the mini-maze.

Needless to say, this is a great beginning, and the longest stretch

of sinus rhythm I've had in many years.
