Guest guest
Hi All, Been supplementing our son with Twin Labs Allergy A and also CLO for visual stimming, but we've noticed that every time we do he develops a red rash or blotch around his right eye. The rash is on the eyelid and sort of appears to be the shape of an outside-down delta ending with a point around the right cheek bone. We are giving 80,000 IUs split up over the course of the day. We are almost 100% sure that it is the Vitamin A doing this. Does this indicate anything to you reading this? He has also been very aggressive lately as well. This entire description sounds like vitamin A toxicity. Do you notice the rash comes and goes? Or does it stick around and only fades gradually? It is also possible that it is an intolerance to one of the two forms of vitamin A. You can drop one or the other, see if the rash goes away. Dana Before you responded we removed the Allergy A and CLO yesterday, and tonight(Saturday), the rash has subsided 95%. You might think that the Allergy A isn't the culprit because it's for sensitive subjects plus we had only given our son the 80,000IU for one day, but...... What's puzzling to us is that the rash appears only around the right eye and not both. We were thinking that there might be some sort of viral combat going on .....i.e. measles. If the rash went away that quickly, it may not be toxicity. For my kids, the rash seems to take FOREVER to go away, at least a week. When I personally take the Allergy A, it gives me a major histamine reaction, so it is not for ALL sensitive people, I guess there are certain folks like me, who are " too sensitive " . You might try giving it again with No-Fenol enzyme, see if that helps. > What's puzzling to us is that the rash appears only around the right eye and not both. We were thinking that there might be some sort of viral combat going on ....i.e. measles. I suppose that is possible. Describe the rash, I will see if it sounds like the rash my kids get. Their vitamin A toxicity rash is very distinctive, not like any other rash they have had. For my #4, she gets the toxicity rash on only one leg, unless I keep giving vitamin A, then it spreads to the other leg also. Once the rash goes away, try giving about 2500 IU of either Allergy A or CLO, see if the rash comes back. If it does, wait for it to go away and then give 2500 IU of the other one. If the rash comes back for both, it is probably toxicity rash, altho might be an intolerance to both. For my kids, once they develop the rash, I have to remove all vitamin A for at least a month, otherwise the rash immediately comes back, even at only 1000 IU. Another thing you can try, if your child is a biological child, is taking vitamin A yourself. Just do about 5000 IU, see if you notice any reaction. Good luck. Guest guest
Rather than try to describe the rash I just created a photo album entitled " rash " on this site. http://photos./group/ /lst Once you view it I'll replace the photos with more pleasant ones. Guest guest
My son has a rash on one side of his face only that looks similar to the picture you posted of your son. It comes and goes on him also. I was thinking it was yeast related since nystatain cream seems to help. His has some bumps too, and I couldn't tell in the picture if your son had them too. We are not using the A and CLO that you mention either, so for us, that it not the cause. nne
Guest guest
> Rather than try to describe the rash I just created a photo album entitled " rash " on this site. From what I can see from the pictures, this is a cute kid! This does not look like the vitamin A toxicity rashes of my kids or of the other kids that I have been sent pics to look at. [but remember, I am not a medical doctor!] It sort of looks like phenol intolerance " red cheek " . And the Allergy A is high phenol. You can try giving it with No-Fenol enzyme, see if that helps. > Once you view it I'll replace the photos with more pleasant ones. Yes, it would be nice to see pics of your child, he looks like a real sweetheart. And hey, any opportunity I can grab, I can post pics of MY kids too! http://www.danasview.net/mykids2.htm Dana
Guest guest
I hadn't thought about phenols. Thanks. The rash file is gone, but I'll post some nicer photos soon.
