But I only give him one spoonful in any one day and not every day, only when he insists. I am aware though that Calpol isn't something I should be giving him too much off. I would welcome some sort of 'harmless' substance I could give him instead of using the Calpol in this way. How about filling an empty bottle of calpol with coloured sugar syrup? Ummmmm not sure what Calpol tastes like cos I haven't opened my bottle yet :-)!! - I was thinking boil up some sugar and water until it goes syrupy and then add some colouring, or if you don't want to do that you could buy some glucose from a chemist or supermarket and water it down a bit and then add colouring - if this only tastes sweet but not like Calpol how about depending on how old your SS is saying something along the lines of " it's a new brand/formulation etc. especially for children who are 5/6/7??? Thanks Jo. I might give this a go. He is quite trusting so I think it would be easy enough to convince him it was a new formulation (I feel a bit mean taking advantage of his easy-going nature in this way all the time though.)
