Guest guest
Well honey, it's PTU time for me, so I'm going to try your trick. God help me, I hope it works. I have tried everything right down to trying to drop the darn thing straight down my throat. Just when I think I succeeded, the taste creeps up on me. I swear, the smallest bit must've touched me, but it tastes just like I chewed it up. So gross!! I wish they could add some flavor to it the way they do with kids medicine these days... Guest guest
Oh well... didn't quite work... After I dribbled iced tea on myself, the pill ended up sliding over my tongue on it's way down. But it was a little better... How can one little pill taste like such crap? Guest guest
> Well, I have been taking the PTU nasty pill about 2 months now. Has it been 2 months already Sandy? I was wondering how you were doing with the PTU - are you feeling better? Hope so, Pam B.
Guest guest
Hello Pam, Well, not quite 2 mo. but it feels like 2 years. I at least don't feel nauseous or anything from it. I think it has really helped my concentration. I used to just stare at my housework but now it seems I can at least go from step 1 to 2. I go today to the endo again so I will post an update. Thanks for your concern. I have been pretty busy with my antique online store. This is the time of year. Can you believe we only have about 3-4 paydays left to buy all the stuff. Geez! My grandbabies are making their lists and checking them twice believe me. Sandy > > Well, I have been taking the PTU nasty pill about 2 months now. > > Has it been 2 months already Sandy? Guest guest
Hello Clair, What a beautiful name. Anyway, it takes a little practice and I don't do it perfectly every time but it has helped me and every once in a while I don't taste them at ALL. Milk seems to work for me better than orange juice also. Can you believe they don't coat these things? My pharmacist said every pharmacy she has ever worked at only 1 or 2 people even ask for PTU. So I guess it is not worth it to the pharmaceutical companies to improve them. Take care, Sandy > > Well, I have been taking the PTU nasty pill about 2 months now. 6 a > > day with 2 three times a day. Guest guest
Hi Sandy & Clair, I take PTU (I've only been on it since Oct. 24) and have not really noticed a bad taste to it. This might be due to the way I swallow pills. My husband laughs at me whenever he sees me swallow pills, but this is the only way I have been able to take a pill my entire life. What I do is tip my head back so my mouth is up as high as I can get it. I then stick/drop the pill as far back in my mouth as I can so the pill is right at my throat ready to be swallowed and then I take a quick swallow of water. This does not work well if you are trying to get your water from a drinking fountain as the pill will fall forward, but with a glass of water it works well. I barely taste the pill at all. Now that you're done laughing at my inept pill-taking abilities you can try this method if you'd like and see if it helps you taste the pill less. Good luck! > > > Well, I have been taking the PTU nasty pill about 2 months now. 6 > a > > > day with 2 three times a day. Guest guest
Thanks for the compliment on my name =) I hated it for a very long time, but have grown to like it =) And you know, I tried your suggestion with last nights dose and this mornings and it worked. I think I had to get the technique down =P I don't drink milk so that won't work for me. But i think I've got it down anyway. And though I hate it, if it makes me well then I'm glad...
