Guest guest
Cyndee, I live in Muncie Indiana. I have done alot of research and the closest Ponsetti doc to us is in St. Louis Missouri. We are currently going down there once a week for treatment for our son who has bi lateral cf. We took him to a doc here in town since he was 4 days old and just now started taking him to Dr. Dobbs at Shriner's in St. Louis because this doc in town could not get his feet fixed and talked about doing extensive surgery and I want to keep from that if at all possible. Dr. Dobbs studied under Dr. Ponseti for years. He is through Shriner's or you can see him at St. Louis Children's Hospital. Thankfully someone from this group recommended Wings of Hope to us and they are flying us down there while we have to go once a week for castings. If there is any other info I can help you with feel free to let me know. You can either post a message here or my email is littlebrat2026@.... Guest guest
Cyndee, Congratulations! My son will be due in Nov., and the dr. believe he will have bilateral club foot. We live in Indianapolis, so I thought for sure there would be a wonderful dr. who was recommended by Dr. Ponseti, but currently he does not recommend anyone. I emailed him and got a very quick reply, and he stated the process you must go through to be recommended by him. It is very lengthy. He stated he would treat our little one if we wanted to drive all the way to Iowa City, so we are currently looking into that option. I know there are a few very good dr. out of St. Louis I believe. Another woman from Indiana emailed me about him. I am sure there are great dr. here in Indiana, but if you start trying to correct a club foot, and you do it incorrectly, it is a major set back. We thought we would just go to the source from the beginning! Again, congratulations on your growing family! Doctors In Indiana Hello, I thought I had sent an introduction to the group but I must not have. I have been very busy these last couple of weeks with my adoption so things have slipped my memory. Anyhow...my name is Cyndee and I live in Indiana with my hubby , 6 year old son Grant, my 2 year old daughter Jordan (who we adopted from Dehli, India) and our two bassett hounds. We are in the process right now to adopt a little girl in Pune, India who has a right club foot that will require surgery when she comes home. Unfortunately she will not be able to receive any kind of treatment until she comes home. I was wondering if anyone knows of a doctor in Indiana. We are very excited about her coming home...and hopefully she will be home soon. Cyndee
Guest guest
Congratulations- what an exciting time for your family! We adopted our first son from Samoa this past October and were very grateful to find out about the Ponseti method to treat his bilateral clubfeet. We are in driving distance (7 hr. roundtrip) from Dr. Ponseti so we went to him. If you are considering driving to a Ponseti doctor, it may appear daunting up front, but those first weeks do go quickly and the result is something I am grateful for on a daily basis- beautifully functioning, flexible feet with no scars or scar tissue. How old is your new daughter? Are you in the final steps of the process? We'll be thinking of you and your family (on both continents)! Guest guest
Oh wow, . You are flying there now? That's great. Have you gone by plane yet? If so how was it? How is Tyler doing now? I remember you saying something about him having some problems with one of his casts. Pam and (8-12-01) > > Hello, > > > > I thought I had sent an introduction to the group but I must not > > have. Guest guest
Yeah we got to go by plane this Thursday. It was alot easier then driving. Now we can go once a week instead of waiting 2 weeks in between castings. The people were so nice and I am so thankful for the recommendation! We are only going to use the plane with the once a week visits. When we can get some time inbetween visits we will drive. Tyler is so rough on his casts that I don't think he could wear them for the whole 2 weeks, not sure what we are going to do when he has the tendonotomy. Tyler did so good during the flight, he only cried once and I think that was because his ears popped when we were landing. Hubby and I have never flown before either so it was quite an experience for us as well. Took pictures, but wouldn't you know it my card reader is not working so it will be awhile before I can get them posted.
