Hi Connie,

Sorry to hear about your mom's cancer spreading to her liver. I know

it's hard, but your mom's doctor(s) have to get all the test results

back before they can recommend a treatment. The tests can provide

information on where the cancer is and how aggressive it is, and from

there they'lll recommend a treatment plan.

She can definitely swim with a port.

take care,

Hi Connie if it's a portacath and completly under the skin, not accessed with a

needle ( sometimes they are left in for a week) and the surgery is healed then

yes shower, swim, bath, do what you want, they are wonderful.

Hope this helps Velvet (UK)

My mom had a chemo port put in about 1.5 weeks ago.

Are you alowed to get into a pool w/ a chemo port?

She has a gym membership, and likes to walk in the water, but

we haven't asked the doc yet.

Thanks for the help.

Dear Frances,

Once the incision has healed, she can do anything she wants. It is like a

part of her body.

Good Luck,

Cindy

You can do pretty much anything with a port --- swim, clean house,

run marathons, etc. ;-)
