Guest guest
Tracie, Great news on your getting Remicade. I had 3 infusions in about a month and had major improvements. Then I had to drop out til insurance mess got settled, so it was 6 months before I had the 4th one. I did go to ER that night with SOB, but no big deal. 5 weeks later I developed serious allergic reaction that caused horrific swelling of joints and terrible pain. They determined it was allergy to the mouse component in the Remicade and too dangerous to continue. I'm not saying don't do this drug. Just be careful and keep aware of what's going on with you so you can catch a problem quickly if it happens to you. Best luck! Kay

Guest guest
Wonderful news, Tracie!!!!! I am so happy for you. Did I tell you all that when I saw my rehumie last week that he told me he was going to try and get me approved for Remicade? I was getting ready to ask him about the Enbrel and before I could ask, he told me that he thought I needed to be on Remicade and he would try and get it approved for me..........I asked about the Enbrel and he said it was ok but he liked Remicade much better. My Cardiologist/Pulminary Specialist can only think of prednisone........he does not acknowledge that other drugs help Sarc............I get so upset with him over this............seems like there are a lot of Doctors out there like him........ Guest guest
I saw my doc yesterday, and told me that he had tried and tried to get my insurance to pay for Remicade, and they told him, until they can see a published Medical clinical trials that say Remicade is helpful for Sarcoidosis, they will not pay. I know that Dr. B and Dr. S have multiple articles but have they published any clinical trials yet, like the one the Cleveland clinic last year? There is a Remicade helpline for patients to call. I know part of the being accepted is based on income, so and even though our will not cover a $4000 per infusion Remicade treatment, I also know it will be too much to qualify. I am not complaining, just sharing this news with you all! Marla Hey lady, How are you doing? I was just reading your post--it's good to see the history of your illness. What an ordeal. so the Plaquenil and Imuran aren't working any longer, so they really do need to fight to get you on the Remicade. If I'm recalling --didn't you just get a denial on that from the insurance? Both Dr. Baughman and Dr. Sharma have multiple articles on Remicade and multi-system sarc. If you can do a search with Om Sharma, MD and Remicade (inflixamab) you'll get a bunch of hits. These articles are great support when it comes to the appeal. Do that for Dr. B also. Print them out and give them to your MD. Hang in there, we'll continue to help where we can, Hugs, Tracie NS Co-owner/moderator -- The Lord bless you and keep you: The Lord make his face to shine upon you, and be gracious to you: The Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace.
