OUR SPECIAL CHILDREN Complementary Supports to Behavioral Therapies for Children With Autism Spectrum Disorder Presenter: Sarina Kier MA, CVT This one-day workshop on February 21, 2004 will introduce participants to the importance and success of a complementary multi-disciplinary approach to accelerate all aspects of a child’s development. Focus will be given to a bio-medical protocol. Discussions will include: • What is and why use a multi-disciplinary approach • The importance of your child’s complete history • Cleansing, healing, and rebuilding the body and brain • Navigating the significance of digestion, neurotransmitters, and nervous system development within ASD • A guide to following a practical bio-medical protocol • Diet, nutrition and supplements Who Should Attend? All Families and Professionals working with children diagnosed with ASD About Sarina Kier Sarina Kier is an international speaker, health care practitioner, a health and education consultant and a mother of two children with developmental disabilities. She received her Master’s Degree in Integrated Special Education and Health. Sarina Kier has been involved in special needs education, health, and advocacy for children on both the community and government level. She is currently in private practice in Vancouver and sits on the Special Education Advisory Committee and Advocacy Committee for the District of Vancouver. Her approach is one of integration. Utilizing her experience in both health and education, Sarina takes all aspects of a child’s life into consideration in designing treatments. To accomplish this, she works with various modalities including Functional Assessment, Vega Testing, Homeopathy, Nutrition, and Diet Assessment. She also helped design and carry out a one-year case study on children with ASD using a homeopathic protocol. Through her involvement in complementary medicine over the last 11 years, she has also been certified as a Vega Technician, Bio-Kinesiologist, and Homeopathic Practitioner.
