Guest guest
My son, , had the same problem. I went to Gymboree and bought their infant socks and he wore two or three pairs at a time the first week. The doctor then decided that the shoes were too big and we got a smaller pair. Tonya San Diego bcf HELP! Just got the DDB...it stinks!! First of all...our son is only 10 weeks..so he is still in his pumpkin seat. His bar doesn't fit down properly...and it causes he feet to slide up and almost out of the shoes. On top of that, we can barely hold him without his feet slipping as well. We have checked and they are as tight as we can get them. ANy ideas? I am going to call Dr. DObbs on Monday...but man this sucks. He had his last set of casts taken off today, and it was the worst! He cried so hard. His feet are torn apart...dry skin, torn skin, redness...it just looks awful. I cired most the day. He hurts so much. I swear I can't wait until the 3 months of 23/7 is over. Ok...I'll stop whining now. :-) Thanks for listening.

Guest guest
Dr. Dobbs is our Dr. also. My son, , also got his shoes at 10 weeks old. I know what you feel like. When we first got his shoes everytime we turned around his toes had slipped and he started getting blisters on his heels. We had to drive back a few days later (4 1/2 hours one way). They had not put the plastizode in the back of the shoe. This was 2 1/2 years ago though and the shoes have changed. They also padded the tongue of his shoes. I'm not sure if they have the newest shoes now or if they are still using plastizode or not. We haven't had a new pair of shoes in 6 months. Are you tying the laces at the bottom of the shoe? If not turn the laces around backwards and tie them at the bottom this seems to hold the foot in better. Is the strap tight enough? Have you tried using some extra socks for the weekend until you can get back to the brace shop on Monday? The socks with the grippers (Old Navy and Baby Gap are good)also seem to hold the foot in better. If they drew lines on the shoes remember that will change if you wear extra socks. Rolling a baby blanket or a towel and placing it under the knees in the carseat helps, but some people have had to buy new carseats because theirs was just too narrow to accomadate the bar. I remember how horrible those first couple weeks were. Everytime he slipped it took 2 people and about 20 minutes to put the shoes back on because he fought so hard. Now it takes one parent and about 2 minutes--it gets sooo much better! With him slipping so much pay special attention to his heels when you take his feet out to readjust the shoes to make sure he's not getting blisters or pressure sores. If you start to notice blisters the band-aid blister block band-aids are good. His feet and legs are also going to be very sensitive due to the casts this will also be getting better for him. Where do you live? We live in KY. Good luck to you. Pam and (8-12-01) > First of all...our son is only 10 weeks..so he is still in his > pumpkin seat. Guest guest
- The shoes shouldn't fall off that easy by just holding them or in his car seat. Sounds like your shoes are WAY TOO BIG. What size shoes did they give you??? They come as small at 000 or the new 's come even smaller. > >Reply-To: nosurgery4clubfoot >To: nosurgery4clubfoot >Subject: HELP! Guest guest
, The new style Markells come in 0000's now. It's weird, because before the reverse lasts came in 0000 but not the straight lasts. I am sure of this because it says it on the PDF flyer for the new style that Jay posted here in the files section. If the bar is too big wouldn't that make them more prone to falling off too? We never had a problem with the bar fitting in the carseat, and the one we used with Darbi was actually smaller than the one I used with her brothers. (we had to get a new seat that would fit between her brother's two seats in the back, one being a hurkin Britax Super Elite for a child to 80 pounds - the old seat was way too big to fit so we had to get a new one. It is a Graco.) Something else to try would be punching a couple extra holes in the straps. That is if they're being used on the last hole available now. Oh! Remember that one parent who used that sticky wrap stuff last summer? What about wrapping that over the socks and seeing if it held better? I tried it with Darbi without a sock, seemed to work ok. Her feet sweated in them but it was also summer at the time. What *is* that stuff called? It's like an ace bandage but it sticks to itself. hummm... Guest guest
Kori- I believe what you might be talking about is Coban (spelling?).
