I used to sing too in choirs & solo. But now can't anymore either...sound more

like a frog these days. I think it's thyroid related. It's in the near the voice

box isn't it? How could it not be related?

When I was a little girl, I used to go and call for my brother and sometimes

no sound at all would come out. My mom took me to the Ear/Nose/Throat

specilsit and he had said " She has nodes on her vocal chords "

As I got older I trained myself to sing, and got to where I was doing light

opera.....so not too bad a voice.

After not singing for a few years, when I now try to, at certain pitches,

just these awful, horrible gurgle-tune sounds come out, and they are

completely unpredictable and uncontrolable. Just real horrible sounds, LOL!

Does this stuff all sound like it might be thyroid related???

Hoping to be able to sing again someday,

Inga

Yep, same here. I almost won a prerequisite to the Miss Tx pageant on

account of my voice way back there. It wasn't until I got thyroid disease

that I began to have all kinds of trouble with my voice. I spent a lot of

my life singing, though no major engagements of that sort, but when my

throat started doing these strange things 2 or 3 yrs ago, at the same time

that I never felt good again, I lost my singing voice. I never know when my

voice will break or go off key, and I am now in my 50s, so I did have a good

singing voice for all that time, until then. Sometimes, like today, it

still feels like there is something in my throat, both in the lymph nodes at

my jaw line, and in the thyroid area, then sometimes it all shrinks. It is

so weird.
