Guest guest
I am seeing a high risk ob doctors because of some complications with other pregnancies. I received a call from the nurse there yesterday and was told that my pre-albumin levels are low and so is my progesterone. (We expected this as I have what looks like a hemorrhage around my right ovary) So I am now on vaginal suppositories for the progesterone, but am unsure about the albumin? Please any advice, feed back or encouragement is appreciated. I am almost 6 months post op and 7 weeks pregnant. (not as far along as we originally thought) I am a little scared and feeling kind of venerable. Thank you Misti
Guest guest
You are not getting in enough protein. Albumin is a specific type of protein and you need to talk with your nutritionist about how you, specifically, can increase it to normal levels. I am in the same shape, and my doc has me taking in a minimum of 150 grams of protein per day. It is still low after six weeks, but better than it was. Guest guest
Misti, In the last 8 weeks of pregnancy my Albumin (protein) levels were extremely low, this was all due to the fact that I was still suffering freom morning sickness and could not tolearte protein in any form. I started swelling tremendously in my legs, feet and abdomen because of this. My Perintatlogist stated that when your Alnumin levels are low, your body soaks up all fluids like a sponge. It took me about 3-4 weeks after the baby's delivery to lose the excess fluid. Also, I had a c-section, and they had to insert a drainage tube next to my incision for all of the excess fluid.. You should talk to your ON, but I would assume the Albumin levels would go up with you increasing protein in your diet. Talk to your Dr. Best wishes!
