Guest guest
Oh I have been through this so often..it is so painful watching others.... I am just trying to think of some presto/magical way to convince that maybe it is NOT stress. I keep thinking of magnesium sulphate foot baths. The British know this as Epsom Salts baths to relieve stress. Epsoms Salts is very non-obtrusive amd non-threatening and something the average person can deal with .... Maybe you could have your friend's sister use this technique for a few days and see what it brings ( small amounts of quarter cup to larger amounts and slowly). Magnesium is very calming in itself and if it does calm then you can open the discussion up to mg deficiencies, sulphate etc. at the least maybe some will see there is a bio-chemical factor. If, otherwise, you go in cold, you don't stand a chance......Think creative... Any if anybody hasn't said it, you are very caring!... in Germany [ ] adult talking like a 4yo > An aquaintance of mine's sister has supposedly begun talking like a > 4yo because of stress at work. Guest guest
Sally, this does not sound OK at all. I can say that I had a bout of " lisping " when I had some dental work done and my jaw was misaligned from the procedure. Once my jaw settled back into place, the lisping went away. As a speech therapist, I found this rather amusing and disturbing at the same time! In regards to this woman, I would be wondering, did she have a mini- stroke, or does she have a tumor that is along some nerve that affects speech... I would not attribute this to stress because IF stress caused this, then I would be saying goo-goo-ga-ga all day long!!! Yes, stress has an effect on nutrients in the body, etc., but I just don't think this sounds like an effect of stress... I would urge her to seek other answers. Guest guest
I would suggest you ask your friend casually if they have done a series of medical testing to rule out inadvertent poisoning. Then I'd casually mention you saw something on Law and Order or something like that where a person was lead and merury poisoned from blinds and a thermometer that broke. I throw in the " OT " stuff about the tv show and blinds so that you won't look obsessed over mercury like much of the public thinks we are. You mention how you remembered it because they did the same testing as your child had, then mention the hair test and other diagnostic testing. Many people will buy into a tv show more than our actual experiences for some strange reason. Debi > Thanks for any info. > > Sally

Guest guest
I started to have speaking problems. They stopped when I eliminated ALUMINUM from my diet. It is commonly used as an additive to baking powder, sodium aluminum phoshate, and to pickles as alum. Aluminum is a neurotoxin. The famous story about it is when Buddy Ebsen (from the beverly Hillbillees) was going to play the part of the tin man in the Wizard of Oz and they painted him with aluminum paint, it almost killed him , the rest is history. IT (the speech problem) IS definitely not a stess problem.
