Guest guest
Hi Heidi- My son was orginally treated (casting and tenonmy) by Dr. Mubarak in San Diego in April of 2002. There is a lady on this board named whose grandson Andrez is currently being treated by him now. If you would like to talk further you can email me your phone number to hwray98@... and I can give you a call. I'm in Temecula (just north of San Diego0 now. Dr. Mubarak is great with the casting and tenonomy, but then he deviates from the Ponseti protocol when it comes to the bracing. He doesn't rotate out the feet as much and ask the parents to keep the child in the brace for 23hr for a year which is not necessary. With all that said you can still get corrected by him and then just follow the Ponseti Protocol of bracing 23hrs for 3 months and then down to 16 hours. > >Reply-To: nosurgery4clubfoot >To: nosurgery4clubfoot >Subject: Dr. Mubarak - California- Urgent >Date: Sun, 23 May 2004 11:39:59 -0000 > >Dear All, > >Kindly advise if anyone has been treated his child with Dr. >Mubarak as he is away from the place i will be staying. Guest guest
Hi Heidi, My grandson was born 2-13-04 with biltateral clubfoot. He is being treated by Dr. Mubarak. So far everything is going well. He was casted at 6 weeks old and had 6 castings, then a tenotomy and a final cast which he wore for 3 weeks. He has very small feet and did not do well in the Markell shoes and developed a bad blister after only being in the shoes for 1 week. We left him out of the shoes for 15 days and he slightly relapsed. He is not back in a cast for the slight correction he lost while out of his shoes. He will wear this for 3 weeks and then back in his Markell shoes. Hopefully this time his feet can handle the shoes better. We are thinking about gonig with the sandals but they are quite expensive. The only concern I have about Dr. Mubarak is that he really doesn't seem to take this that seriously. I really don't think my grandson should have been allowed to go without shoes or casting for 15 days. I've learned from this board that my grandson should have been put in a cast so he wouldn't have lost any correction while his blister was healing. He now knows that we have sent pictures to Dr. Ponseti and that we are in contact with him so maybe he will treat my grandson more closely. He does seem to deviate from Ponseti's protocols regarding the length of time a child needs to wear the DBB 23/7. He told my daughter Andrez needs to wear the DBB for 23hrs a day until he is able to walk -- that would be about 8 months or more!! Since he is close to us and he did a great job with the castings (well at least the cast techinicans) we will continue to see him but we will stick to Dr. Ponseti's recommendation about the DBB of 23/7 for 3 months straight. Good luck and email me if you have an specific questions. Do you see him Thursday mornings?? My daughter see's a few of the same mothers with children with clubfoot on Thursday mornings. - In nosurgery4clubfoot , " rita221068 " wrote: > Dear All, > > Kindly advise if anyone has been treated his child with Dr. > Mubarak as he is away from the place i will be staying.
