Guest guest
I think they like you to try for a year on your own before they test you for any problems. For me I guess I just needed to relax and stop trying soooo hard. I thought of nothing else except getting pregnant and it did not happen until I quit trying and took in my cousins abused baby. When the baby was given back to her and the boyfriend I found out I was pregnant myself, 10 weeks along and I did not have a clue... I had tried before about 40 IUI's with Clomid and you really think that would work since they stick those stubborn sperm right up there nad show them the way, but NNOOOOOO, they don't... Try to relax, I know it is hard to do but you must. You can always call your OB and ask about getting some Clomid and see what they think. Maybe they will have you come in now to see if they can help you out. Good LUck, I remember going thru this and all the tears I have shed in the past over it. Look in yahoo and see if they have a TTC group to join also for some pointers. Hope this is some help. HUGS, ROBIN, NY TTC#4 - I DID IT, YEAH!!!!!!!!!!! OPEN RNY 10-18-02 378/246/170??? Guest guest
Jenn how long have you been trying on your own? Do you have regular periods? How old are you? I think they usually like for couples to try on their own for six months to a year before doing anything depending on your age. It also depends if you are having regular periods on your own. If you are not having periods then you are not ovulating and then the 6-12 months is no longer an issue because there is something else wrong that is causing infertility. Maybe someone else here more experienced can give you more information. I wish you luck on TTC. Marjorie Tristan 1/19/00 m/c 8/12/02 RNY 1/22/03 264/184/150...someday EDD 1/4/04 but c-sec end of Dec. Discouraged Hey all, I hardly read on this site anymore because quite honestly I'm so jealous when I hear that someone else is pregnant. I know that sounds horrible. But as of yet, my husband and I have not been able to conceive. We want it so badly and it just hasn't happened. How long do you wait before you talk to a doctor about seeing if they can help you to conceive? It seems that we've put off having children mostly due to my health before my RNY...and now that I'm healthier then I have ever been, I can't seem to get pregnant. We've done all the ovulation predictors...and so far nothing. It's so hard to want something like this so badly...and not be able to have it happen when we both thought it would just happen. So, how long is too short of a time to try on your own? When do we talk to a doc about seeing if there is anything they can do, to help us get pregnant? Thanks guys, Jenn

Guest guest
My sister in law has not been able to have babies, and the fertility doctors wouldn't even speak to her until after she had tried for 2 years with no success. Sometimes, I guess it just takes longer than we'd expect. You are using ovulation predictor tests and they are not showing that you are ovulating? Do you chart your cycles and CM? I'll definitely keep you in my prayers. I know how frustrating it can be. Blessings, Sheryl

Guest guest
How long do you wait before you talk to a doctor about seeing if they can help you to conceive? How long have you been trying? I saw a fertility specialist within 6- 7 months of using CLOMID from my reg OB Dr. I should have seen a fertility specialist right away looking back on it. If you are 30 or older, I would make an appointment with one tomorrow. I hated hearing people tell me " you're just trying to hard " " give it time " " it will happen " . Well, it happened on God's time, not ours, but I think seeing the fertility OB was the first step in the path to motherhood (2nd time). Maybe you aren't ovulating or have some other probs stopping you from conceiving? PCOS? do you belong to any other groups or websites? Have you read Taking Charge Of Your Fertility by TOni Wescler? I would suggest you buy her book (borrow or rent) right after you make an appt with an fertility specialist. (depends on how long you have been trying to conceive). My OB just wanted me to see him WHEN i got pregnant; ho took no agressive tx toward getting me pg. So I would bypass seeing a reg OB unless you haven't seen one in quite sometime and the fertility dr you pick doesn't require a referral. best wishes! Guest guest
*helpful hint* just remember, when you go for a visit with a fertility MD.... they don't have to " know " exactly how long you've been trying. Heartbreaking infertility caused me to tell them I'd been trying for a couple of years.....when in all actuality, it was short a year and few months...lol what do they know? lol if they won't see or treat you for 2 years, what's a little *fib* going to hurt? I had several Lap attempts done, bloodwork, an HSG, hysteroscopy and a D&C before the OB put me on Clomid (alone) and it didn't work. It's very discouraging and time consuming not to mention expensive EVEN with insurance, so I wished I hadn't wasted so much precious invaluable time. Guest guest
Jenn, Been there, done that, feel for you 100%!! Jym and I tried for TWO YEARS before we went to a doctor... that was TOO LONG! I'd give it six months, then go... that's just my opinion though, okay?? We tried for close to 14 years before giving up completely, just to have this one pop out of the woodwork... so... I know exactly how you feel about getting jealous. It's pretty normal, actually. Like I said, give it six months, then get thee to a good fertility specialist/endocronologist, okay? Let us know what happens. Warm hugs and best wishes. Sharon B. Guest guest
Thanks all for the kind words and encouragement. I'm 28, have done the ovulation kits every month for the last 4, well 5 months and nothing. I have regular periods...the 20th of the month like CLOCKWORK!!!!!! I have an appointment with my OB/GYN at the end of this month..a week from friday and since he is so wonderful, I'm going to talk to him about it then. Maybe I'll put my fingers behind my back and *fib* a bit about how long we've been trying. We've been married for 6 years next month and now that we are finally ready as a couple..it's not happening. It's so frustrating... I appreciate all the kind words...and to hear that these feelings are fairly normal..*laugh* I thought I was turning into a mean person...*laugh* Take care everyone, jenn > Jenn > > I know exactly how you feel hon, i was infertile for 16 yrs i did > infertility tests and took clomid and did the sperm injection the > whole bit and still did not conceive i finally gave up the idea of > having children and concentrated on losing weight. after losing the > weight i got preg 10 months out and didnt know it cuz we were using > protection (spermacide) and still got pregnant but i had a > miscarriage now almost a year later i decided i want a child and this > is the first month trying and what happens i get an ovarian cyst > lol...just my luck! but you know what im not giving up yet..im gonna > try for a few months then go see my gyn and see what she says my next > step should be....good luck to you hon be patient and stay > positive..i know its hard im riding the same boat as u but dont give > up k deanna >

Guest guest
Jenn, talk to your doc now...you very well may not be ovulating and may need a boost. My friend has a problem where she only ovulates on one side so that means every other month she is fertile and the timing is always weird. THe doc might be able to give you a more clear pic... also you want to have your hubby checked to make sure his boys are swimming fast enough or swimming at all he may need some medical care himself...best wishes and hang in there hunnee!! I too have been down your road and as we speak am hoping to be off it! Mindy
