I am from the detroit area. I have an appointment with Dr.

silverton . He is out of Henry Ford hospital. I understand that he

does resurfacing.

I also have an appoint with Dr. . He is out of St s.

he does not do resurfacing. He is a metal on metal kind of guy.

I have to make a a choice this month. I did not understand when

I was told I needed a thr that are were many options and

proceedures but that I would be on my own to investigate and try

and find a doctor. A three month wait to see an OS.

I am out of time and I need help. resurfacing or metal on metal ?.

and has any body heard of Dr. Silverton.

I have not heard of Dr. Silverton, However, I have gone to Dr. Lyons at

Henry Ford Hospital. Dr. Lyons stated that he has recently been trained in

resurfacing and has not performed any resurf surgeries. I am afraid you will

find that no OS in michigan has any hands on surgery in Michigan. I would

continue to pursue other avenues, outstate or even out of the country.

I too would wait two or three months for an appointment only to find out

the OS had no experience in hip resufacing and in most cases only knew about the

outdated information of the 1980's. Between the time taken for denials by my

insurance company and the long wait between OS appointments, time for me to

return to work began running out fast. Ultimately, I made a decision I am very

pleased with, to go to Dr.DeSmet in Belgium. He has vast experience and is

one of the best (if not the best) in the world. There have been many positive

posts of surgeons in Illinois, Ohio, California, South Carolina, etc. They

are all probably good surgeons. So to save yourself some time and explore the

possibilities outside of michigan.
