If it was my child I would use only half the dose next time or try ALA if his

copper is all right.

About 8 days ago gave my son (55 pounds) his first round of DMSA. I used a

very low dose (8 mg) every 3 hours day/4 hrs. night, for 3 days, 2 nights. I

gave lots of supplements as suggested by Andy. He seemed fairly normal during

the

round.

The day after the round ended, he was a bit irritable, but days 2 and 3

afterwards, he was hugely irritable and hypersensitive. The second night after

the

round ended, he went to sleep naked and spread-eagled on the top of his

blankets, not wanting anything to touch his skin. Since the round, he has also

been

very sensitive to sound, and easily frightened. For example, he was afraid of

noises and sights in the woods that are basically in our backyard, which he

sees every day. The sound of a donkey braying, which he also hears several

times

a week, sent him running into the house in fear.

I mentioned the above to our DAN doctor, who had previously suggested I use

about 10 times the dose that I did. He told me that since the problems

occurred

two days and more after the round, that DMSA didn't cause them. He also said

that the dose I used was so low that it would have caused no side effects at

all.

Am I the only one who has a child who's side effects showed up two days after

a round? Or who showed such strong reactions to such a low dose?

My son gets irritable after rounds of DMSA. I attribute it to

re-distrabution and possibly yeast. I was giving my 28 pound son 8mg

as well so I think your dosage is probably fine. One thought, are any

of the suppliments you are giving with chelation new to him as well?

It is possible that he cannot tolerate one or more if it is new? My

son cant take all the necessary supps as he gets aggitated and

obsessive with some. I tried them off round to see if it was chelation

or not causing the behaviors.

This is my #2 when he has yeast.

I use ALA only, but days 2 and 3 off round are the absolute worst for us as

well. I've read this from other parents all using various protocols, so I think

it is more related to chelation in general, rather than whether one is using

DMSA or ALA or both. Plus, I think it might suggest too high of a dose as

opposed to too low of a dose. I'm a newbie, so see if others agree or disagree.
