le,

Have you ruled out acid reflux that could be causing the crying that might make

it like colic? Just a food for thought. Use your CALGONE and add a glass of

wine to it.

Guess I just need a moment to vent. Between having 4 kids and the

babies being twins, Coby having RSS and now colic I feel like

screaming. I am still handling it all very well but I think it's all

getting very close to being overwhelming. I need a quiet month...no

suprises, no bad news, no colds, no nothing...just a nice hectic

normal life. That's what I was prepared for...normal craziness.

Ok I'm done...thanks for listening and yes I know things could be

much worse and I remember that and am very thankful for small

blessings.

Hi le, Hang in there honey! Jack wasn't colicky but he did

cry for attention a lot, probably because of the 2 months in the NICU

and missing the constant array of pretty nurses who'd fallen in love

with him. Classical music helped for us. We have a Baby Einstein

toy that plays Bach. I'd be happy to mail it to you and you can

borrow it for a while. The boys occasionally play with it now but

they would not miss it a bit. Nine times out of ten, it would stop

Jack's crying. I also begged friends and family to come visit in the

evenings (since Doug works second shift) so that both boys could be

held or rocked as needed. Our OT always suggested laying him in a

sturdy blanket and then holding it by all 4 corners (like a hammock

sort of) and swaying back and forth. You need someone else to do

this trick though and while I begged for company often I still ended

up alone a lot.

le,

Believe me, I know where you are coming from. It's all those little things that

just add up. I try to remember that God will never give us more than we can

handle, but really, sometimes I am tired of seeing just how much I can handle.

We recently found out that both of our boys (, 3 and , 21 mo. RSS)

have a moderate hearing loss and were both been fitted with hearing aids at

Christmas time. Talk about throwing a log on the fire. Now I have to have our

little girl's (, 7 mo.) hearing retested to be sure that she doesn't

require hearing aids as well.

Remember, there is always someone worse off than you, but that doesn't minimize

what you are going through and the issues that you have to deal with and how

that makes you feel. After weakness/struggle comes strength from having been

through it. Hopefully you can escape for some brief moments of sanity and get

some rest, a nap here or there, whatever...or Calgone!

Wishing you and your family good health and quiet moments.

, mom of , 3, , 21 mo., RSS, and , 7 mo.

P.S. Has Coby been diagnosed as having colic or could it possibly be reflux? I

remember that was unhappy quite a bit as an infant and we tried treating

him with Mylicon drops thinking it was gas, but he actually had reflux as was

given Zantac syrup to help. Just a thought

Hi le,

Another thought just occurred to me. Have you tried a hot water bottle

wrapped in a receiving blanket? We used to lay the water bottle on our lap,

lay on the water bottle, and slowly sway our legs back and forth.

Thought that might help. If a warm bath works, maybe it's the warmth moving

the gas? At least this way, you could have an excuse to sit down? LOL We,

also, used the hot water bottle in the crib, when we needed to get something

else accomplished. Short periods on his tummy shouldn't hurt him, I would

just check on him frequently.

When Christian[rss] was young he had colic and the only thing that worked

was a baby swing[indoors that works by battery]It really saved a lot of

stress.

Mum to ashley-11,kyran-9,christian -6,harrison -5 and Mia a 11 week old

labrador puppy that is causing more chaos than all the children put

together.

When my non RSS daughter was a baby......she was not diagnosed

colicky......but to me she was LOL. I was loosing my mind. I use to strap

her onto me with one of those baby carriers and vacuum. My house was never

so clean, but that shut her up. My former sister in law use to put her son

in a nice towel filled laundry basket on the laundry machine and do laundry.

That knocked him out.

Vent on anything le, that's what we are here for. No one should have

to go through crap alone. It's great to talk/write to others and get it out.

Take care and I hope there is some sleep/peace in your future soon!!

hehehehe Calgone is a bubble bath...their comercial used to

say... " Calgone take me away " when the woman of the house couldn't

take the chaos anymore, she would take a " Calgone " bubble bath and be

swept away from it all.

And I have to say thnak you to everyone for their support. I really

hated to post and complain...I try not to be negative but it is nice

to gripe a little bit.
