You have to experiment to see what effects your BG levels but other things come into play as well. Weight, stress, time and portion sizes all have a bearing. Barry UK Fwd: A1C testing..- eating I have not looked at how foods react to my bg. How does one get started? Do you just write down everything you ate and then test 2 hours after? My dr put 4x/day testing necessary and that is what the ins co is paying. If the dr only put 2x/day, ask him for another script reflecting an increase in daily testing. That may be all your ins co needs. You have to check your policy to find out, I guess. The meter is only $18 and you can get 100 strips for about $50 (that's about 1/2 the price of the name brand meter strips).
