Please help. NO, you are not alone! I think we all have had some of these feelings in our life. It's part of being fat! My first reason for getting this surgery is my diabetes and my sleep apnea. I want so desperately not to have to use insulin and my CPAP machine anymore. Especially the CPAP machine! (try being single and explaining a CPAP machine to a new boyfriend! I usually just don't tell them and hide it)Am I going to mind the bonus of finally having a smaller body? No way! <smiles> I know my self esteem has suffered being overweight. How can it not in this society that embraces thinness as being desirable and sexy? I have been at night clubs and had men " Moo " at me. I was seriously involved with a guy who implied I was too big to have sex with. (Thank God that relationship is over!) Right now, my esteem is not good! I am trying to lose a little weight before the surgery because my Surgeon would like me to, and, I don't want to eat out of control before my surgery in May and have even MORE to lose! I have been eating low carb. It works for me. I eat lots of green veggies and plenty of protein and fat. It's very easy to understand how people can really pack on weight before the surgery, knowing how they wont be able to eat so many things after. How can I pass up that Ben and Jerry's pint? <evil grin> I know this surgery is one of the toughest things I will ever do. But, I feel like it's my only chance for keeping this weight off. I am tired of losing weight and gaining it back. People can't understand how I could lose 100 pounds and gain it all back. Heck, I can't understand how I did it! I want to cry when I look at my size 16 jeans that fit perfectly less than 2 years ago. I am desperately afraid that I will gain it all back even after surgery. What I am basically trying to say, is that we all have these feelings of second thoughts and fears. It's normal I think. Hang in there. Guest guest
its worth it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i had major problems after my surgery and i still would have the surgery again in a heartbeat. Guest guest
Kim - It's totally normal to have second thoughts especially since you are so young. But your weight probably makes you feel more like 40 than 25, right? It won't get any easier carrying around the weight when you get older, only worse, with more comorbidities creeping in. I know you know that, it is just normal pre-op fears. Now, let's see if I can answer your questions - Has anyone ever had these feelings or am I alone? *****definitely not alone, we've all had the feelings What do I have to look forward to the days after my surgery? *****You may be in a lot of pain and feel like you made a mistake, but it will pass, and you will learn how to live with your new little pouch What should I not do after? *****Don't eat sugar or milk, don't take big bites and not chew them enough, don't sit around thinking this was the worst mistake of your life. What I should I do more of now before the surergy? ******Start exercising to build up your strength. Start drinking lots of water and start drinking protein drinks. Building up your protein reserves will actually make your tissues easier to cut into for the surgeon. And your recovery will be quicker. Guest guest
Dear , ::Big Hugs:: We've all been where you are right now. WLS is not an " easy " choice. It's a tool and a darn good tool, if I say so myself!! I've lost 90+ pounds and I feel absolutely terrific most of the time. I'm in a size 22 (down from a size 30/32) and wearing jeans with a button and a zipper for the first time in seven years!! My DH and I have always had a ::blush:: healthy sex life but now it's a whole lot easier, if you know what I mean. I know I'll never had the body of a 20 year old (or the stomach for that matter) but each pound I lose brings me closer to my goal and reduces the amount of excess weight I am carrying around. Take good care, read up on the surgery and God bless you richly! Love, Trace in Va. Beach, VA Dr. Schechner, Va. Guest guest
Betty, I have one swollen lypth node on my neck...near the ear lob. I have had it there for over 8 years and each doctor I have visited for fun...I ask them to check it to see what they will say. Everyone of them has said it's due to allergies and it's my body reacting. They all have said it's not big deal just leave it alone. I had one doc say that he would look at it by opening it up in his office but, I fired him before we got to that and no others have offered. I know this doesn't help but, I've always been curious about it and wished someone would tell me why it stays swollen and hard like it does...so far no doc has been that interested LaCretia > >Reply-To: NaturalThyroidHormones >To: NaturalThyroidHormones >Subject: Re: second thoughts >Date: Wed, 22 Dec 2004 15:18:08 -0800 >MIME-Version: 1.0 >X-Sender: bcmc@... >Received: from n21a.bulk.scd.yahoo.com ([66.94.237.50]) by >mc5-f40.hotmail.com with Microsoft SMTPSVC(6.0.3790.211); Wed, 22 Dec 2004 >13:18:44 -0800 >Received: from [66.218.69.1] by n21.bulk.scd.yahoo.com with NNFMP; 22 Dec >2004 21:18:43 -0000 >Received: from [66.218.66.157] by mailer1.bulk.scd.yahoo.com with NNFMP; 22 >Dec 2004 21:18:43 -0000 >Received: (qmail 62225 invoked from network); 22 Dec 2004 21:18:42 -0000 >Received: from unknown (66.218.66.172) by m17.grp.scd.yahoo.com with QMQP; >22 Dec 2004 21:18:42 -0000 >Received: from unknown (HELO misav06.sasknet.sk.ca) (142.165.20.170) by >mta4.grp.scd.yahoo.com with SMTP; 22 Dec 2004 21:18:41 -0000 >Received: from thyme.sasktel.net ([142.165.20.198]) by misav06 with >InterScan Messaging Security Suite; Wed, 22 Dec 2004 15:17:55 -0600 >Received: from sasktel.net (hsdbsc206-163-245-166.sasknet.sk.ca >[206.163.245.166]) by thyme.sasktel.net (SaskTel eMessaging Service) with >ESMTPA id for >NaturalThyroidHormones ; Wed, 22 Dec 2004 15:17:55 -0600 >(CST) >X-Message-Info: JGTYoYF78jEbMvwXsaK9q1fd7nFE4HrsgRp1R5UDbRM= >X-Yahoo-Newman-Property: groups-email >X-Apparently-To: NaturalThyroidHormones >X-Accept-Language: en-us, en >User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.6) >Gecko/20040113 >References: >X-eGroups-Remote-IP: 142.165.20.170 >X-Yahoo-Profile: brc1012000 >Mailing-List: list NaturalThyroidHormones ; contact >NaturalThyroidHormones-owner >Delivered-To: mailing list NaturalThyroidHormones >Precedence: bulk >List-Unsubscribe: ><mailto:NaturalThyroidHormones-unsubscribe > >Return-Path: >sentto-7991139-43669-1103750322-lacretiamo=hotmail.com@... >X-OriginalArrivalTime: 22 Dec 2004 21:18:44.0892 (UTC) >FILETIME=[D19A6DC0:01C4E86B] > > > Had them checked out in Oct. and doctor felt at that time they >were viral. Then I found out I was really hypo in later Nov.so then I >felt I could not get them to go down due to being sooo low.Just a very >worried person here...Betty > >Valarie wrote: > > > Have you had the swollen glands checked out?
