Kennedy has been performing hip resurfacings for the past 3 years. I

had mine done in Nov 2002. ROM is excellent. I can go beyond 90 degrees of

flexion, internal and external rotation is pain free. I lift weights daily

including leg press and squats. I would highly recommend him. The staff at

Sarasota Memorial is excellent. My anesthesiologist was Dr. Irving Smiler.

Also

an excellent physician.

Florida OS that I know who do Resurfacing:

Dr Kennedy in Sarasota

and in his same office Dr Jeff Kennedy.

Dr. Helmy in Merrit Island (?)

Check activejoints.com for a complete list. There is lots of other info

there for you too. You can expect to be as good as you are when you go in as

when

you come out. Dancer Starrett was able to do full splits on each

side after his bi-lateral Resurfacing with Dr Harlan Amstutz (JRI) in . . .

hmmmm. . . .'98 or 9. he also returned to the stage performing Ballet.

Good Luck with your info search

Steve,

I can bring my knee almost all the way to my chest now

one year later and its been like that for quite some time.

The only problem I have with range of motion nowadays is that

my belly gets in the way alot.

Jeff :-) (1-3-03 C2K Dr. W. Kennedy)

You're doing leg presses?

I was cautioned about it by Bill Kennedy.

Tell me about your leg presses.

Right hip was done three weeks ago.

I began leg presses and squats at about 12mos postop. I am careful not to go

beyond 90 degrees of hip flexion. My body wt is 200lbs. I started with

approx 1/2 my body wt and I am now up to 240lbs on the leg press and 150lbs on

the

squat rack. If I feel the slightest strain, I reduce the resistance and do a

few more reps. Good luck and proceed slowly and controlled.
