Guest guest
I have had the most frustrating experience with the staff at JRI, and am venting here, but I thought it might be helpful, if anyone else was going to have a procedure done there. The Dr's at JRI operate out of both the Orthopedic Hosp and Santa . I am scheduled for surgery in Santa on 3/4. Since that is less than two weeks away and I have heard nothing from JRI regarding pre op physical, pre op instructions etc..., I called them. It turns out Santa Hosp is not covered by my insurance but Ortho Hosp is. Yet, they didnt think this was an important point to tell me. Moreover, they had me give blood at Santa for my surgery, yeterday, even though they knew Santa was not covered by my insurance. As I understand it, you can only give blood once a week and no later than 1 week before surgery. This means that unless they can move the blood from Santa to Ortho Hosp, its too late to use my own blood. I have no faith in their being able to arrange this thing in time. Everything needs to be moved to Ortho Hosp, but they are not doing a thing about it. I just keep hearing that they are really busy, but hey...by Monday, it will only be 12 days before surgery. How close to the line is this going to be. Absolute administrative incompetance and I only hope this is not a representation of their surgical skill.
