Guest guest Posted March 10, 2004 Report Share Posted March 10, 2004 Hi I had my left hip resurfaced by Mr Fordyce at the BUPA hospital in Fordcombe near Tunbridge wells in September 2001, I believe he's a very good surgeon, I've had a problem with my Birmingham hip which has now failed where it fits the femur, due we believe to an infection caused by a problem with a wisdom tooth. I'm now on the urgent waiting list at the Kent and Sussex hospital (est 3 months!), I'm going to have a large head metal on metal Freeman hip as a revision utilizing the BHR pelvic cup, as long as there is no sign of infection (which I believe there will be as the only way to reduce the pain at all is to stay on the flucloxacillin antibiotics). I live in Kent (Maidstone) though I went to Mr McMinn in Birmingham. I know someone who was resurfaced by Mr Housden (Ashford / Canterbury)and is very happy with his outcome. Mr Housden was certainly on MMTs list when I had mine done over four years ago, so he should be very experienced by now. They don't tend to list the surgeons who use them as there is some head hunting going on by new manufacturers.
