Guest guest
This was an interesting post. A few days ago I tried doing a PubMed search and a general internet search re pyroluria and found almost nothing. Could anyone please suggest some places I could look? Thankyou, Margaret (UK) > > I would like to hear some other parents experiences w/ Pfieffer. > > > > > > > > > ======================================================= >

Guest guest
I found something on drkaslow.com. However, I have no idea whether it is reliable or not. The first link that you list contains this message: << " Hi - The best place to start to research pyroluria would be Dr. Abrahm Hoffer's book, " How to Live With Schizophrenia. " It may still be available at & Noble but, if not, the library should have it. Dr. Hoffer was one of the co-discoverers of this disorder. He has also written several other books and I would highly recommend anything he has written. Also, the library should have " Mental and Elemental Nutrients " a classic by Dr. Carl Pfeiffer. The reason this research is not well-known by the American public is because the APA deliberately buried it because they were getting so much grant money from drug companies. And these companies would be out of business if people knew about pyroluria. " >> If this is correct then a large percentage of this group stands to benefit significantly from this work. I am not sure if Dr. Hoffer or Dr. Pfeiffer are still around, but other people such as Bill Walsh seem to have picked up their thread and are putting it into practice. I have heard that white spots under the finger nails could indicate the condition, and that the urine test would only be used to confirm the diagnosis if you are symptomatic (which includes being autistic or having high levels of anxiety). However, even without the white spots you may still have pyroluria. If anyone on this list has any other experience or information on Pyroluria (Positive or negative) please share it. Guest guest
Both of my kids have pyroluria. Supplementing with higher doses of zinc with B-6/P5P/magnesium/calcium/Vit A, etc. have very much helped their anxiety/meldowns/behaviors about 70%. Well worth the test if you suspect. It's a very inexpensive test.
