Guest guest
Hi everyone just wanted to share our 6 week follow up discussion with our cranial surgeon in hopes of keeping everyone out there motivated and striving forward with banding the babies!Damian has been in his helmet for about 1.5-2 months now and wears it w/out fail for 23 a day even though I hate him in it! My husband took him to the cranial surgeon today for his 6 week follow up and Dr. (who is awesome if anyone lives in the Massachusetts area) said he looks incredible! Damian had some pretty severe flattening on the back right part of his head to the point where his little ear stuck out so much it looked like a satalite dish! Anyway Dr. said he is off by about 15 degree (anyone know what that means????) and that we could start thinking about taking him out of it in about 4-6 weeks! We originally had thought he'd be in this thing till May. But we may leave him in it till he's really sitting up- like till end of March. He's a little delayed and I don't want him to regress too much. He said that after the 4-6 weeks it's up to us as to when we want to stop tx. I guess it's a matter of taste at that point. So the reason I am telling you all this is we were those parents who played the wait and see game and were so upset when he needed to get the starband, wished we had done it sooner, and we were like this is going to take forever and now with the tremendous changes we're so glad we did it! And he's almost done. So everyone hang in there! For those of you who are new to this- and just got the band- it does work, stick with it and I promise it will go by fast! mom of Damian (aka superstar) 7 months old, starband, Somerville. This method worked great. Scrub with the brush and dip it back into the alcohol for more. I found 4 or 5 dipps and scrubs worked for us. We also switched to California Baby super sensitive shampoos because they were mild and I feel helped all around. Good luck Tammy (we also dried the helmet using an old osolating fan. We put the helmet on a toy drum on the floor in front of the fan and let it blow on it for a half hour. Dried it quicky and very well) Durocher <funwith4gmail> wrote: be sure to wash it with alcohol every single day and try using the higher 91% aocohol On Jan 27, 2008 6:16 PM, julie.stewart39 <julie.stewart39 > wrote: Hello!I just joined the group this evening. A very nice mother in the same orthotics office as I gave me the info on this site. Tomorrow will be 1 week that my 6 mo old Lily has had her helmet and it already stinks. We have been washing it with baby soap and sometimes rubbing alcohol. Is there anything to get rid of the smell?Thanks-- ASK ME ABOUT GIRL SCOUT COOKIES!
