Hello

Does this lad have a Dx? Asperger or HFA? How old is he? My son has an extra

chromosome - a 'Y' one making him twice as male as the next guy (god forbid

LOL) its called 47XYY. One in 850 males have this anomaly, most are undx. Rapid

growth commencing around ages 5-8 is expected, as they tend to be taller than

their predicted heights. My son is 7 and is just starting to grow quicker

now. XYY lads are described as tall and lanky.

The doses he is getting don;t seem high at all in ASD terms, I don;t think

you can stop somebody growing becasue he looks different in class. I was always

the tallest, I felt good about it........

Hello All,

My DS is gaining too much height after starting on supplements Ca and

Zn. He has also lost his baby teeth very early, whereas as a baby he

got his milk teeth later than kids his age. Because of this he stands

out too much in his class. He is taking low dose Ca 125mg per day and

Zn 10 mg per day. If I stop Ca for some days he becomes less calm and

more emotional, if I stop Zinc he gets chewy.

It seems all the Ca he is having is going to increase the length of

his limbs. Anyone else having the same issue, what to do?

, what made you decide these supps were the cause of the growth?

I'm curious because my Allie is very small for her age and we've

never seen Ca do that to her. I do know that as she gets older, as

many of the kids with ASD I know, get longer and skinnier as they

grow. Allie is getting slimmer every day and growing, so she appears

very lanky.

Have you checked him for hormonal imbalances?

Basically Ca and Zn are considered minerals essential for growth,

and these are the only supplements that he has been taking

continously during this rapid entire growth phase. I know of an ASD

adult who is quite tall 6 feet 3 inches and very skinny, and who had

to face a lot of difficulties becoz of his height. I dont mind the

height as long it is not accompanied by getting skinny, but DS is not

getting any body fat. He is 5.

I have not checked him for hormone imbalances, do u have any

suggestions for a particular test?

Thanks
