You are right E, and I think of that often — it’s all tied into the Insurance requirement though. They control what doctors can and CANNOT look at.

I have the BEST doctor in the world over 10 years ago and he just up and quit cuz he could not take it anymore.

He told me STRAIGHT OUT that the insurance companies PAY THEM BONUSES if they keep costs down and keep procedures DOWN DOWN DOWN, and that unless you DIRECTLY ASK for a test or proedure you are not gonna get it....!

SCARY CRAP.

Sue

Thought I'd toss in my two cents...

Moons can be huge if you have blown out hyperthyroidism...and be scant to non existent if you are hypo.

YES...It does have to do with the oxygen's circulation.

Docs don't know this because instead of looking you over and examining you properly, they really exclusively on the perfectly FLAWED blood-tests...nowadays.

My bloods were so called PERFECT and I had cancer growing in my neck...so if they can't detect THAT...what I ask DO they dectect????

~E:) and memory loss.

I didn’t know it is a federal offense. In fact the way it was explained to me, it’s VERY legal:

The way the insurance companies work is by dollar per patient per month.

This doctor explained to me how it worked and how they got BONUSES to keep costs down.

For example if you went in for an ear ache and he noticed a gash on your cheek, he CANNOT treat that UNLESS you ask directly.

Also, he said, if the “normal test” is TSH for thyroid for Insurance companies he CANNOT add on T3, T4 etc UNLESS you directly ask for it.

This all makes sense when you read all the folks complaints on her about doctors. While I am defending no one, this is one explanation for why they are at “tight with tests” as they are.

So, then, if they meet their goals for the month, like a car saleman, they get a BONUS —sometimes a CRUISE, etc..

This doctor would not treat patients that way so he quit medicine entirely — some just stop taking insurance due to this — I had another doctor do that— it’s sad and it’s wrong but it’s the system.

Cripes, they've been getting away with this stuff for so long that they're actually parading it. That and the oil companies. I think the gov should put a cap on businesses that have obscene profits. Either it goes back into the product if the place needs it, or it brings the profit down.Spiff wrote: If these insurance companies are paying bonuses to doctors to keep costs down, that IS a federal offense, just like with the pharma companies and doctors, because that is

bribery, no less. Why has noone mentioned this before on these sites? I've never heard of this type of bribery OVER the table (not under), out and out, by insurance companies. Illegal. Sue: I do wonder about the constraints that docs are under too. I would love to know how it all really works. I sent my Ma in with a list of thryoid tests to be requested...and six times she was turned down for all the tests expect the TSH and the t4free. Most docs told her they don't do thyroid and that she should ask someone else. So...after more than a year, we still do not have a full picture of her thryoid. TWO of her sisters (one so bad they took her house away and put her into an old folks home) have been diagnosed and of course me...(she has a list of hypo symptoms that are longer than a full

grown Anaconda). I went throught that myself for years...and then they took out my thyroid and said there was nothing wrong with it. YA think???? I wonder if the docs get a bonus for demeaning and lying to patients too. I think my docs should have won trips to the moon by now! I had to fight to get the tests I wanted even then. ~E:) TOTAL-Thyroidectomy 26 months post-op.

This is very interesting information, thank you. I used to 'ask' about things but now I know to 'tell' about what I want and it has worked for me on several occasions. I put the list of tests that I wanted on paper and gave the NP a copy and she ran every single one. When my kids were little, I learned quickly that if I said 'so and so has (whatever symptoms/ailment) and needs to see a doctor today', I always got the appointment... Judy

Yep, Before this doctor told me all this I can remember all the times I would “mention” to a doctor about how my back aches, etc. and they just nodded and went on with the ear or throat exam...

They also need to have a separate appointment with a separate co-pay for each “ailment.” all part of the insurance nazis.

You do need to ask/tell directly what you want and need...otherwise, they treat it as “idle” conversation...
