Guest guest
Wow, that stinks. Why would she talk him into that? You might want to just tell her it is not what you asked for, that she told you it would be tiger striped?! Hope you can work it out. Tawnya Ian, 2, mild/moderate , 4, hearing earmold dilemma I have what may seem like a stupid question, but here it goes. Our audiologist talked my little guy into " blaze orange " earmold.(with a black stripe.like a tiger is how she marketed it.the black is more like silver and mostly nonexistent). Up until now we have always done Red, White, and Blue because that is mostly what he wears. Now my question is this.is there any place that I can get another set of molds with out going through my audiologist? She was pissed when I said OMG about the ones that she handed us. I asked how much another pair would be and she said $80.I would pay that too at this point. He will look ridiculous. Thankfully (never thought I would say this), his hearing aids are in for repairs right now.dog chewed them. I welcome any recommendations and PLEASE do not judge me for not like the orange. It is just SO bright. Guest guest
Hi - that's so funny - my younger son has orange earmolds right now (with black stripes - to match his soccer team) and he loves them. different strokes. I think you probably do have to go through an audi to get the earmolds changed - is it possible you could talk with her and tell her you don't like them and could they be remade in a different color? The company likely still has the impression... I'm guessing you might have to pay since the change is cosmetic and not that it doesn't fit but it doesn't hurt to ask? Good luck! Guest guest
, We had this happen when Hadley chose the brightest hot neon pink in the world. It was ghastly, but we lived with it for three months because she thought they were fabulous (as did the rest of the four year old world!). I can feel your pain though! As Barbara already said, the earmold company will charge you for a change in color. Even if you can find a defect in the mold, the only way to get a free remake during the warranty period (usually three months) is to stick with the same style. However, we have had great success augmenting Hadley's earmolds with Sharpies (permanent marker). The pens now come in a wide variety of colors. Hadley had clear earmolds not too long ago that she and I decorated with Sharpies (the exterior; the part that touches the inside of the ear we left alone). You can also use nail polish. Maybe if you just use black permanent marker on the black/silver stripes, it will make it look better? If you have some of his old earmolds, you can practice on them. We did all this with the approval of the audiologist (actually, they were the ones who suggested it!), but you may want to doublecheck with your audiologist. We remake molds so often for Hadley that I don't worry too much about doing things that might deteriorate the mold long term, but if Aidan is one of those lucky kids who gets lots of time on his molds, you might want to think it through a bit. Good luck, Kerry earmold dilemma I have what may seem like a stupid question, but here it goes. Guest guest
Barbara, I would not mind the orange if we had a reason like matching the soccer uniform. I guess out of all the colors... I will probably have to just get over it. She said $80 for another pair. Does that sound right?

Guest guest
, I feel your pain. My daughter always wanted red earmolds (school color) but the audie and I were afraid it would look like blood. The other school color is black which I don't think would look good on a girl. We ordered red white and blue right after 9/11 which came out to be aqua and pink. She liked them though. Got royal blue once and purple another time. Lately she has been getting clear with sparkles, and the last pair was supposed to be pink but they are translucent so they actually are less noticeable than clear earmolds. We had great luck with pink white and purple swirls a few times. This is over a 10 year period! She has braces now. So the pink earmolds were supposed to go with the pink bands on her braces. Then she broke her arm and got the cast and an orthodontic adjustment the same day. We had Auburn colors on her teeth and her cast - bright orange with royal blue. So I can definitely sympathize. But the important thing is that your child likes them. in GA

Guest guest
Hi all, Thanks for all the great feedback and the " feeling of my pain. " I like the Sharpie idea. I will run that by her. Otherwise, I guess I will just live with it. I asked my hearing itinerant about other good pediatric audiologists in the area and she did not know of any. I guess I will sit tight and keep going to this one. She loves Aidan. She is good at her job. Aidan has not seen the earmolds yet because the hearing aids are MIA due to dog chewing...a whole different drama. LOL! In the grand scheme of things this is minor. I needed some perspective and it took me some time to get there. The one thing is this last set of earmolds lasted 9-10 months. AHHHH! This is the same audiologist who suggested red and green for the holidays. Fine for the 3 month earmold wearer. Just thought I would send that out for a chuckle. New question...are there certain ages where the earmolds need to be redone sooner? Are there ages where the ear grows more than others? Maybe we are at the end of a slow growth period. Here is hoping. God bless,
