Yeah, I think we pay about that for a pair.

I like what someone else said - to let her know you were expecting Tiger

stripes and they aren't so could they be redone? Can't hurt to ask!

My favorite set ever was glow in the dark earmolds - now *those* were cool!

I think my son's earmolds are $140, so in MY world, $80 would be a bargain!

However, I totally can relate to your disappointment with the color of the

molds, and the hassle factor (as well as the expense) of new molds just to

change the color.

BTW, the audies feelings should have no bearing on this -- your son is the

one who has to wear them. His feelings are the ones that count.

I was told around $100 for new molds, but I think that included impressions

being made.

Barbara,

I would not mind the orange if we had a reason like matching the

soccer uniform. I guess out of all the colors...

I will probably have to just get over it.

She said $80 for another pair.

JD loves his...in fact we're waiting on his latest one to come in. Our new

audiologist hadn't heard of them either and didn't believe us when we told

her about them - but she did call Westone to ask about them since they're

not pictured in their cataloge. They are available, but they're not pictured

in the catalog because they haven't been able to get a picture of it that

shows it off to its best effect since in daylight it's just a milky shade.

The picture I have on my website is OK, but I'll admit it doesn't really do

it justice. However, now I have a better setup for photographing them so

I'll give it a try again when the new one gets here and we'll see what we

can see.

Way cool ideas! May I use them on the website?

,

I'm guessing that this will depend on the individual child. is now 6

1/2 (diagnosed at 2 1/2). The first year and a half we had new molds made about

every 4 months. But since then, it's pretty much been every six months. It's

not that her ear grows that much, but it grows just enough to warrent getting

the new molds made every six months.

God bless,

We had one set of earmolds that could have lasted a whole year -- except

they died at about the 10 month point. And there was a point about a year ago

when we were replacing them every 2-3 months because Ian would start squealing

every time he chewed or yawned or opened his mouth too far. He grew about 5

inches in 6 months during that stage and his face was changing from the little

boy face to the adolescent one with the new more grown up nose.

It really depends on the kid. I use to be able to shop at end-of-season

sales because I knew just how big my kids would be when that season came back

around. But that ended when they reached about 9. Suddenly their growing came

in unpredictable bursts, as much as an inch a month. My daughter grew 6.5

inches in less that 6 months this past year. She no longer has any clue where

her

hands and feet are -- we are in a terminally clumsy stage where tripping can

happen when walking across an empty room in bare feet. Such grace, LOL

Ah, parenthood.

This is the same audiologist who suggested red and green for the

would send that out for a chuckle.

Ah, it sounds like you may have to become assertive at the next earmold

selection process and stick to what you're comfortable with.

Most of the time I let my kids pick out their colors, but occasionally I

will over ride decisions, like the time my 3 year old wanted a purple that would

look more at home on a girls' ear. :)

Glad to hear I'm not the only one that has exercised a veto power on earmold

expressions. My older son once wanted yellow, green, and purple swirls (think

Mardi Gras.) I had him make swirls at home with colored pencils, and he decided

not to go with it after seeing it on paper.

Ditto to what has been said already. Additionally, the level of the child's

loss will dictate how loose an earmold can get before creating feedback. With

Hadley's severe loss, just the smallest gap can create a TON of buzzing. We

usually get 6-8 weeks out of molds as a result (without the use of copious

amounts of " guck " -- usually a mixture of OtoFerm and Vaseline; since the molds

don't last very long, I don't have to worry about deterioration with these kinds

of products).

When Maggie was little, 4 to 6 ish, we would get 3 - 4 months per set of

earmolds. Then it got to be every 6 months. From about 10 years til now, she

gets a whole year. Earmolds can get pretty nasty in a whole year! in GA

Oh yeah! Totally gross. No matter how often you clean them. We only let that

one set get to the 10-month point. We get new ones every six months even if

he's not squealing because they just look so gross to me. You know it's bad

when " the mom " doesn't even want to touch them. We're on about a 4 month

cycle right now with Ian's current rate of growth.
