Guest guest
Jerry, What Deb is saying is Very Important for you to remember! We know a young man in town in his early 20's that was diagnosed with colon cancer. Their family has quite a few men who were diagnosed, one brother was too far along and they could not save him. Their father was treated for colon cancer and is now being screened regularly. If you have insurance or not, is no reason to put off being screened. All states and counties have a clinic for indigent families that anyone can go to for a colonoscopy. Tell your doctor you must be screened. Your future is about the decisions you make NOW and this decision is about YOUR future, separately from whatever happens with your Dad. You will have complete privacy with whatever doctor you go to and you will know when the time is right to speak to your siblings about getting themselves screened. Louise Jerry , First off you have not wasted our time, thats what we are here for to help if at all possible , and if we cant help then to listen. I dont even know where to begin with your dad hun, I wish like you do that he would seek treatment. But he has to do it hun , you cant do it for him , There is something YOU can do for YOU , get a colonoscopy done now! Do not wait til your 50 as they say, do you know if your parents ( in this case your dad) had polyps wether benign or cancerous you should be checked 10yrs before they were. For instance my 33 yrold husband was just diagnosed with stage 4 Colon cancer, our children have to be tested before they are 25 , also your siblings should be tested, so I dont know if its such a good idea for you to have to be hush hush about it ,try to explain that to your dad. As far as life expectancy goes each person is different but I do know they gave my 33yrold husband 22months but we arent listening to that Take care and post anytime Deb
