Guest guest
Cheryl, That was my major problem as well-portion control. I felt I was eating all the right things-lots of veggies, fruit, whole grains, etc. but I wasn't losing weight because of the amount I was eating. What I did sounds so simple really, but it took me a while to " get it " . When I sit down for a meal, I only serve myself a small portion and I eat it slowly-often getting up in the middle of the meal to fill my water glass, or get my husband some more food, or give Mandy (our dog) something. These few minutes allow my brain to tell my stomach that I'm full, or getting there. But actually, I stop eating before I am full. It's weird-there's always plenty of food in the fridge and cupboards, but I used to eat like it was my last meal on earth. I've even got my husband to cut down a bit. I say, " Well, if we're hungry later, we'll have some snack-fruit or veggies and dip, or nuts or something. " I realize now that I don't have to pack it in like I'm going on a hunger strike the next day. I just eat a little and remind myself that there's plenty of time to get something later if I feel like it. It's working for me right now, so I'm sticking with it. Plus, it has the added benefit of not making me feel like a slug for the rest of the evening- I actually have *energy*-something I was sorely lacking before! I think because of the daycare business, you actually have the opportunity to eat like many nutrition experts say to: Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a queen and dinner like a pauper. Maybe you could have your shake or just a small snack at dinner if you're not that hungry. Or just eat one of the things they are having, like just the veggie dish. Then you'll at least feel like you're sitting down and having something with your family. Great going on the exercise!!! My husband is a leg man (which I feel is a waste of my boobs) LMAO! So stay away from my house! Hee!! Autumn On Wed, 17 Sep 2003 02:51:33 -0000 " crunnebaum " writes: HI! I am pretty sure I am eating enough, probably too much. One of my biggest problems is portion control, but I am now trying to combat that with loading up on the more healthier items then the fattening ones. This week is much better on the feeling starved bit. I have been exercising every other day and trying desperately to eat more healthier. Drinking is not the problem, I drink tons of water and have one diet soda per day. Sometimes I have a glass of juice or milk here and there but it is typically 10 oz per day. I know when I started exercising before I gained weight before I lost it. Right now it is hard because I run a daycare from my home and fix them a complete breakfast (bacon, eggs, fruit and toast) and a complete lunch. Of course I am usually not hungry for supper but often times I just eat it because everyone else is. Does that sound crazy? I am going to start using slim-fast shakes again at least for breakfast. I think that will help get me through it. But, I am proud of my exercise routine, when I can't run I do taebo. I am starting to notice my legs getting more shape. How sexy!!!! Guest guest
Thanks Autumn! I hear you on the boobs. Thanks for the advice I am going to follow it because I do eat like it is my last meal and then feel guilty afterwards. How much weight have you lost?
