Debbie,

If I am remembering correctly amiodarone is something like 35% iodine

and that is one of the reasons it is so toxic. If you are allergic to

iodine you probably will have trouble with amiodarone. I would call

you doctor and remind him/her of your allergy to iodine. Doctors often

forget what their patients are allergic to if they don't have that

information prominently displayed in the patients chart.

Yes Amiodarone does have all this iodine as its ingredient.

Take a good look a the patient instructions they should be comprehensive and

give you all the facts on side effects etc.

I did not have any side effects until around 6 months after taking it.

Although thinking about it I had a dry cough after two weeks, which

freighted the hell out of me.

(one of the side effect is a dry cough and the instructions tell you to

stop immediately and go strait to the ER.)

May I suggest that you have your thyroid check out as soon as possible as

this gland can effect how you feel in more ways than one.

A good idea is before you take this drug get your thyroid results taken not

just TSH but FT4 FT3 and use this as a base line for the future.
