Guest guest Posted October 12, 2005 Report Share Posted October 12, 2005 Debbie, If I am remembering correctly amiodarone is something like 35% iodine and that is one of the reasons it is so toxic. If you are allergic to iodine you probably will have trouble with amiodarone. I would call you doctor and remind him/her of your allergy to iodine. Doctors often forget what their patients are allergic to if they don't have that information prominently displayed in the patients chart. Take a good look a the patient instructions they should be comprehensive and give you all the facts on side effects etc. I did not have any side effects until around 6 months after taking it. Although thinking about it I had a dry cough after two weeks, which freighted the hell out of me. (one of the side effect is a dry cough and the instructions tell you to stop immediately and go strait to the ER.) May I suggest that you have your thyroid check out as soon as possible as this gland can effect how you feel in more ways than one. A good idea is before you take this drug get your thyroid results taken not just TSH but FT4 FT3 and use this as a base line for the future. c Uk > Does anyone know the answer to this one? > Amiodorone has something to do with Iodine right?
