Guest guest
There aren't any ponsetti qualified doctors in arkansas listed on Dr.Ponsetti's list. There is Dr. Dobbs at St.Louis Shriners that is Ponsetti Qualified. We go to him we live in southern Illinois and he is the greatest. Shriners is totally free. You don't have to pay for anything not even the Brace. There are some parents on here that drive over 5 hours to St.Louis shriners and even fly from Texas Kathy one of the ladies on here is from Texas and goes to Dr.Dobbs. She flies free and could help you with all the information. We drive there. It is only a 2 hour drive for us even with the high gas prices it is well worth it. Hope this helps. Let me know if you need anymore information. Have a great day Mommy to Isabella 10-12-02 bilateral cf. > Does anyone know of a doctor in or near Arkansas who uses the Ponseti > method? Guest guest
I think I left a msg for you on the other clubfoot board. How many miles would it be for you to drive to St. Louis? They do have a Mc House there, but I don't know very much about it. We drive from KY and it takes us about 4 1/2 hours. We just made the drive back and forth each time. We would sometimes come the night before or stay the night of the appt just because it was a lot of driving with a baby. Also the clubfoot clinic used to be in the morning so our appt would be like at 8 am, but I think most of the appts are in the afternoons now. We always stayed at the Holiday Inn at Shriner's rate, but if I were going to stay there the entire time I would check into the Mc House. I would think the best way to see if this were possible is to call Porter--Dr. Dobbs nurse she would know who to put you in contact with to arrange this (if you were to want to). Dr. Dobbs is wonderful. He cares about the babies--not just their foot which was not the experience we had with prior orthopedic docs. We started seeing him when was 2 1/2 weeks old. is doing great. I was so amazed each time we went to have a cast change at the amazing difference. We are excited to go back for follow-ups just to see them--as people--not just healthcare professionals. They are really great. I know how difficult this time of decision is. We felt like we were on an emotional roller coaster. We just didn't feel like we were able to go to Iowa at the time (although I'm sure had we not found Dr. Dobbs we would have found a way to). But I have to say Dr. Dobbs is the next best thing. There is also Angel Flights and some other free flights that others on the board have used for transportation for weekly cast changes. Good luck to you in your treatment and decision. Guest guest
, I'm not aware of any Arkansas doctors at this time. Have you emailed Dr. Ponseti directly? If you're in the southeast part of the state, I know that there is a doctor in Birmingham, Alabama (Dr. Doyle, not listed on Dr. P's site, but has published excellent results using the method)...it's a hike, but not *too* far. Guest guest
I am in Northwest Arkansas. We fly to Shriners in St. Louis. If we drive we get a reimbursment from the Shrine that sponers us (located in ). If we fly I contact Angel Flight and we get picked up right at the local Airfield here in Siloam Springs. The flight is free. The gas is free if you drive and a hotel can be covered if that is needed too. The care is free and the supplies given by the Hospital are free. It all sounds too good to be true, but it is. In fact my oldest daughter and I are going to be on T.V. being interviewed live on the 6am news Thursday June 3rd telling just that. The News we will be on is NBC channel 9 in Fayetteville. Let me know if you have any more questions. I'll be happy to answer what I can. --------------------------------- Post your free ad now!
