Hi

My son has bilateral clubfeet. The casts are normally changed weekly. My son

also had a small umbilical hernia (out of his tummy button) and I put some

micropore tape over it (by squeezing the button together) and it was gone in

a week (I was told to do this by my physio) I don't know if it will work for

your son but it doesn't hurt either way.........

-- umbilical hernia and other doubts

Dear all,

My son is having unilateral clubfoot. He is being treated in

Ponseti method(at leat some thing similar to that). The progress

looks ok. But the equs correction is giving problem. the child is not

co-operating with the doctor. So, My doctor said, he will do by

giving anaesthesia. Is it OK? Even the casts are being changed every

fortnight. Is it OK?

Added to this, the doctor diagnoised umbilical hernia and said the

baby needs to undergo some surgery, otherwise he may develop some

complications regarding Intestines. Is it due to over crying during

cast changes or any other reason.... Please do let me know ur

experiences.

regards

I have never heard of giving anesthia for cast changes. I would question

that. Simon never liked the cast changes but it was never anyhting major.

How old is your child. If they are babies, the doctor should have enough

experience to control the baby during cast changes. Also, Simon has a

herinated umbilical cord. His specialist says that they never do surgery

until they start school. He said that usually they are harmless. He gave us

signs to look for. In the states we call a belly button like that an " outie "

because it pokes out.
