Guest guest
Aw you poor thing. I have no advice, I'm sorry - but you're welcome to cry on our shoulders any time you need to! s. CONFUSION: ONE FOOT OPERATED-ANOTHER -NOT MAYE SOME OF YOU HAVE experiencedOR KNOW SMTH.OF MY CASE. we are from lithuania, that is, mom, and pijus, my 13months old boy. unfortunately we came to know about the ponseti too late. my son's left leg was operated already. however, the right leg we managed to correct by the Ponseti treatment. now we are from the full time DBB wear, and myson is learning to walk. he wears the bar 14-15hours per day. NOW HERE IS THE BIG PROB! Ponseti says that the child is allowed togo barefoot or in normal regular shoes. but what about my son's left opertaed foot? here, in lithuania, sdoctors dont agree among themselves: one part of them say that barefoot after operation is not good, others-that it is good, especially walking on tiptoes. i am so confused, it is so bad when the two feet are treated differently. also sad thopughts sometimes bother me. in the future, for instance, if the operaed foot will relapse and will have to undergoanterior tendon transfer, for instance, what will i do with the right-Ponseti-foot? how will i get it in DBB? that means, his right leg should be put into cast for while? that means we should travel once more to germany????-(becauSe in our countr. ponseti method is not yet practised, only introduced) ah, many questions and i FEEL ALONE... ANY HELP FROM YOU-WOULD BE JUST ...GOOD FOR ME.

Guest guest
Hellow and welcome to the list. Have you spoken to your Ponseti doctor about this? I would think that if there is a relapse with his left foot, perhaps the Ponseti doctor (in Germany) would consider recasting it before you go ahead with surgery. And yes, if it does require treatment, I would think that the right foot would also need to be casted in order to maintain the correction during the time out of the FAB (DBB). I hope that this helps. Guest guest
It does sound difficult with the two different treatments. If the foot that they did surgery on is totally healed I wouldn't see a problem with letting him go bare foot. I am not a doctor of course and you might want to e-mail Dr Ponseti to make sure. You might want to post your question on the other clubfoot board. I know they have several kids that have had surgery and they would be able to tell you there experiences with shoes vs. bare feet. http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/clubfoot/ Sense both feet are in the DBB now hopefully you won't have to worry about a relapse and additional casting. The DBB should hold both feet's correction. Try not to stress too much about the future because you can't change it. You have done the best you could for your son!
