It stands for Back upward right pressure. Its a technique for moving the chords

into a better viewing position. It is taught at SLAM.

It stands for Back upward right pressure. Its a technique for moving the chords

into a better viewing position. It is taught at SLAM.

It is the pneumonic for how you should apply cric pressure. Its usually taught

in PALS courses.

Sorry! It is NOT Sellick's maneuver. Sellick's maneuver is done on the

cricoid cartilage for the purpose of preventing regurgitation by closing off the

esophagus.

BURP is done above that, on the thyroid cartilage for the purpose of moving

the airway structure backward and upward so as to make the vocal cords come

into view.

Back Up Right Pressure.  Toward the patient's back, up toward the head, to the

right pressure.  This is a technique used for intubation.  The person performing

the intubation uses this technique to visualize the cords.
