Guest guest
Hello all, The celebration has been cancelled for a few reasons. After several conversations with Dr. Ponseti and a few parents from this group we have decided to cancel the event. Unfortunately Dr. Ponseti is overwhelmed with celebrations in the first two weeks of June. His wife Helena has been invited to a special event on the afternoon and evening of June 5th as well. I polled to see how many families were actually planning on attending this event. I received information that approximately 10 - 15 families where planning on attending the event. Dr. Ponseti is very grateful for everyone's thoughtfulness and generosity. As most of you know he is a very humble man! He is a strong advocate on volunteering and donating his time not to mention his life to babies with clubfeet. He has asked that everyone save their money and headaches on traveling to IOWA at this time. Instead of a birthday celebration in June Dr. Ponseti invites those of you who want to still have some type of gathering to come to IOWA in November. There will be a symposium in November where it would be great to have parents and children attend to share their success stories with new prospective doctors. I will give information about the symposium closer to that event date for those of you who are interested in attending. I can tell you that what means the most to Dr. Ponseti right now is getting the shoes mass produced. Many of you know about the " new " shoes. Dr. Ponseti believes in these shoes and believes these shoes will help many babies avoid blisters, pain, slippage, etc. Unfortunately is a small business man trying to survive!! He has donated many of these shoes and isn't making any profit not to mention barely feeding his family. Dr. Ponseti believes in and his shoes and wants to help him get his business underway. If any of you parents truly want to make a difference and give something to Dr. Ponseti he asks that you make a donation to help fund this cause. Currently we are trying to raise money through the IOWA Foundation to help . If you would like to contribute (no amount is too small) I am going to start a collection for him. If you would like to contribute and/or have any further questions please email me at charity@... or on the main group list. If we collectively as a group raise money for this we can present it to him in one lump sum with everyone's name who contributed as a gift! I can honestly tell you that this would be the greatest gift of all right now for Dr. Ponseti!!!!! By the way, I am still organizing the footprint quilt which will also be another way to show your appreciation. I am still trying to get the quilting squares donated! If I don't there may be a small fee for each individual footprint square. I will post more information about the footprint quilt on a separate email within the next few weeks!! I look forward to hearing from all of you!!
