I eat Mc's or 's hamburgers without the bun every now and

then when am out and I need to eat, and I've had no problems with them.

I order them with (dill) pickles and onions only, which works for me,

but if you're sensitive order them plain. Neither company adds anything

to their meat (except a little salt in cooking). I also order McD's

unsweetened iced tea with lemon slices, which I can also tolerate well;

but again, you'll have to determine if that would work for you.

You /can/ put food in a carry-on. I have several lunch-box-sized

soft-sided insulated bags (which have room to insert an ice pack) which

work well for that sort of thing. They're pretty readily available. Your

idea of taking yogurt and chicken pieces is good. What about a couple of

cold boiled eggs? Can you eat those? And some nuts, if you can eat nuts.

Be careful about how you pack any food that's semi-liquid and runny. The

change in air pressure could burst a lid and splatter it all over your

clothing and the inside of your luggage. I'm not sure I'd want to pack

spaghetti sauce because of that.

I went to Disney last year and prepared a bunch of chicken then froze it in

individual servings and boiled 2 dozen eggs. I packed those in a hot/cold bag

with as many frozen ice packs that would fit and stuck them in my suitcase. I

brought an insulated lunch box and would transfer as much chicken and eggs as I

thought I would need for the day. I ate out 3 times while at Disney and the

people were so nice. I always talked to the chef so I was 100% sure they

understood my dietary needs. 14 hours after leaving my house, the chicken was

still rock hard and the eggs even froze. I brought way too much and had to throw

some out, but I didn't get sick. On the plane, I had cheese sticks to snack on.

I took along a couple of other things but I don't remember. I would not suggest

eating any fast food burger no matter how much they say it's 100% beef.

Oh, honey and salad dressing were 2 other things I packed and carried with me

while walking around Disney. If you are tolerating salad, you can always get one

without meat and add your own chicken to it. That's what I did a couple times.

I don't know how much they will let you carry on the plane though. I put

everything in my insulated bag and checked it in.

Good luck on your trip,

Whenever I have traveled I have taken SCD muffins, brownies,

cookies and nuts in a carry on for a quick snack. You could also take a jar of

nut butter (?). Drink lots of water and legal juices when flying as flying

dehydrates the body.

I was diagnosed last October with Crohn's and

started SCD in mid January. I stay close to home or work, within my safe space

all is okay. I must travel to 3 cities by plane and will spend long days making

photos (that is what I do) and hopping from plane to plane. So, I'm trying to

put some food plans together. I normally eat 4 things available at restaurants.

Plain steak, Eggs, Cheese and Sauteed Mushrooms with butter only.

Need something available at an airport. Maybe McD or 's burger - meat

only. Is that okay? What else might be available? All ideas are appreciated.

Can I put any food in carry-on? Frozen Yogurt or cooked chicken pieces? I don't

do raw fruit or veggies. Can I put food or frozen yogurt or SCD spaghetti sauce

in check-in luggage wrapped in ice packs.

Any food ideas whether it's carrying them or finding something readily

available after landing. All is appreciated.

Hi -

I don't think you can bring yogurt on the plane since it's a liquid (unless you

only bring 3 oz, but that's not much) - but you can pack pre-cooked chicken

breasts as someone else suggested, SCD brownies, hard-boiled eggs, pre-cooked

veggies (carrot sticks, green beans, asparagus, etc.), cheese, whole fruit like

apples or bananas (although you may not be able to bring fresh fruit IN to some

states/countries). What I've done is to include a couple of ziplocks and once

you get through security go to a fast-food place and fill your ziplock with ice

to keep your food cold.

If you'll be gone more than a day or two, bring a cooler as a checked bag and

include yogurt and ice packs (or if you have room in your luggage, you can put

food in there, just wrap it all really well so it doesn't leak!).

Personally, I would bring lots of chicken breasts and eat those 3 days straight

before I would eat at McD's or another fast food place. I would also be very

wary of any fruit juice you can purchase. I'd stick to water myself.

You can always try Fruita Bu (www.fruitabu.com) or Fruit Leathers

(www.stretchislandfruit.com) as a quick snack. It's made out of 100% fruit -

squished/pressed fruit.
