Guest guest
Annette, we did it with Allie for over a year. I have mixed feelings about it, as the OT we had attended the seminar and suddenly felt this was the one and only way to do the brushing. Another, more experienced OT told me she's seen just as many do well with Wilbarger as the 10-stroke method (sorry, don't know official title) and sometimes she found a hybrid method worked even better. Guest guest
Annette, Never knew exactly what the formal name of the brushing technique was. We used it a few years back w/ our son. One of his current Ed. specialists is using it before/during his tutoring w/ great outcome. Here's one link w/ directions. I Googled Wilbarger Brushing and found lots of sites. www.facei.org/ot-brushingprotocol.doc Good luck, Jill proudoftyler wrote: > I am in the process of finding a new OT for my 28 month old son. Guest guest
Hi Annette, I did this to my son when he was three........You can order the little plastic brushes from doing a search . You brush the skin gently towards the heart. Do not brush the stomach or you will cause vomiting.I brush in the morning ,afternoon and evening and it was fun to do for him.Use lots of soothing explaining about what and why you are doing it and be gentle.
