I HAVE to....this is the first time in 3 years I have

Dianne,

Well I haven't been walking outside or doing the tread as much but I

have been going to the gym and doing weights more and having kind of

interesting results. I have always believed that if I just exercised

regularly, mainly cardio, walking or whatever that I could keep losing

weight. I had heard and read many times that you burn more fat by doing

weights but I just didn't buy it. Well since I have been going to the

gym more and walking less I have found that even when I was not eating

good, bridal shower and wedding and stuff, I did not gain. MY weight

has not been going up and down as drastically. Instead in July I

actually went down about 3 lbs to 206-208 instead of 208-212, 216 at

times in may and June. I joined the gym in May. So while this may not

be drastic results they are making me feel better, more in control.

Once Cassie gets back to school I, Sept 2nd, yeah!!!! :-) I plan on

getting back to my daily walking or treadmill and doing the weights at

the gym 2-3 times a week and hopefully to lose 3-5 lbs a month for at

least the rest of this year.

Abut the in the genes thing. Yes, I believe we are genetically

predisposed to certain things but I also believe that knowledge is

power. Just because something runs in ones family does not mean you

just sit back and let it happen. It means you know you may have more of

a tendency to get something and might have to work harder but you can

fight things like heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure. That is

why I like to point out that there are other benefits to exercise and

eating healthy then just weight loss. It is worth it! Just not all

results show up right away. Just keep at it! Look at the big picture,

not just losing weight but being healthier.

Dianne,

It's ok. No apology necessary. I guess I just assume people know I am

actually the group owner. I don't like talk about it all the time

because I am here for support and friendship like everybody else. But

that is why I did take some things that were said personal since I am

here the most and many things were directed at " the moderators " .

Anyway, it's done now. Without going into detail, I do feel it was not

the group or me. I'm trying to move on and just focus on the people

that are here.

Lots of thoughts running thru my head on this one.

Please no one take offense to this. It's just some thoughts.

If a full figured woman was eating a well balanced diet with little

sweets, sugar and fats..basicly following the food pyramid and

getting 3-5 days of exercise would she loose weight. Maybe settle

into a weight that was right for her body. I think it might happen.

I think she would become leaner. Her body would start to metabolise

food better. If she remained what would be considered full figured

but was healthy. By that I mean was not at risk for heart problems

or becoming diabetic. I think then maybe that is what she is suppose

to be. If she is happy with that than that is all the better.

However if she makes herself believe that that is the best she can

be and settles and then lables herself full figured then I think

there is more to the story. We will never be the same as when we

were young teen girls. Those days are long gone for some of us in

addition to the wonders that motherhood has done to our bodies. With

motherhood comes wider hips and weight gains. I don't think we have

to say oh well that's how it is. I have had two children and I am

being realistic in thinking I am never going to have my perky pre

baby breast again or those narrow hips. But I can have a better

looking body if I want it enough. I can flatten that tummy and I can

developed toned leaner looking arms and legs. I might not be runway

model material when it's all done and said but if I am happy with me

than I have achieved my goal.

I guess what I am trying to say is it is possible. I didn't think it

was myself for a long time now. In talking with the hubby one night

(who is now lifting to get himself back into shape)I said I don't

want to look like a movie star or something I just want to look good

in my clothes and be happy. He said to me " you can look however you

want you just have to do it. Might take longer but you can do it. "

That was the most motivating thing anyone has ever said to me. At

the time we were looking at this magazine he had gotten at GNC with

mr and mrs. fit themselves on the cover. Just to know that he

thought that I have a chance at looking like that if I work at it

was real uplifting. It might not be next month or even in 6 months

but if I keep at it I can get there.

I figure Madonna's ten-odd years older than I am, so if she can look

great, and be so fit and toned, so can I. =+) I don't want to be skin

and bones, looking like a chicken carcass, ( Kidman and

Zellweger come to mind), I want curves (not bulges!!) and sleek

muscle tone. =+)

Me too! I've always been fond of Marilyn Monroe for being a major sex

symbol without being tiny. I don't know if they're still around, but

I once found a line of undergarments named for Marilyn Monroe, with

nothing bigger than a B-cup!!! I was appalled that they would make

things such that the person whose name they carried couldn't wear

them!!!

Dianne,

I think it's great you have that attitude about yourself! I think it

really is about attitude, feeling good about yourself ya know? The main

objective should be to be to healthy and happy, not just focusing on a

number on the scale. That is what I feel is most important.

Hiya Dianne,

I was born and raised in Ohio. In 1997 my hubby(then boyfriend)

enlisted in the Marines and we married in March of 98 and moved to

California that summer. We were stationed at Camp Pendalton and

lived in Oceanside. I loved it! You would of thought I was born and

raised there. I live in Cleveland..well in the suburbs..it's called

Parma it's one of the biggest suburbs in the country. I miss Cali.:(

Cali just seemed younger..cleaner..and I fealt better health wise

living there with all my allergies and asthma. The last two years of

living back here in Ohio have just proven that we made a big mistake

by coming back between my health and family issues.

Thanks about my mom...I really miss her. It's been 4 years but still

feels like yesterday.

Just as a funny side note..most people say I am nuts when they hear

this but after I had my son my hubby had to go back to Cali. I had

to stay for 5 weeks. I then made the trip back on a Greyhound with a

5 year old and a 5 week old. My cousin came with me and we sent her

back on a plane. But boy let me tell ya there are alot of miles from

one side of this country to the other and you don't realize how many

till you travel for days with two kids :)

Anywho..I miss Cali and would love to move back there some day. I

told the hubby if we win the Mega Millions bet your lucky stars we

are moving back!
