Hi !

Your post ended up in my personal email inbox rather than the list but

I thought I'd reply here so that others more experienced could help

you out.

I wish I had some advice and practical help for you but I'm even newer

to Thyroid meds than you are...it's only been 3 months for me and I

have a long way to go!

If I recall correctly the urine test is supposed to be good when it

comes to testing for Cushings (too much cortisol) but doesn't detect

low cortisol throughout the day. I don't see why insurance wouldn't

pay for the blood tests your doctor has ordered again but who knows

anymore with insurance companies!

I really hope you're feeling better soon! Please keep us posted on

how things are going...

Best Wishes,

~~

Hi !

Thanks for your input. I have lowered my dose (cut out synthroid

only on 1 grain) for 3 days now, no change in fatigue. Do you know

how long it takes to feel a difference? I figured I'd give it a try

and see what happens. Yeh, I read in Tired of Being Tired book that

saliva is the best test. It's sad insurance doesn't pay for it. My

endro said she couldn't even order it even if I paid out of pocket.

That I would have to go to a homepathic dr. I'm afraid to go to one

of them since they tend to overdo it and charge you up a fortune all

not included in insurance. I'm not crazy about doing the urine

thing, do you know how many x's a day you have to do it? My problem

is a wake at 5 am, that's the time I think I'm having a coritsol

problem. Other dr tested my cortisol at 10 am, which is when I

don't have a problem. I'm not looking forward to having my blood

drawn again. Maybe later this week. I just had it done 2 wks ago.

Stupid dr making me go again. She even checked off TSH/FT3/FT4

again. I don't think insurance will pay for that? Has to be 6-8

wks. Hopefully the lab wont give me a hard time about asking not to

do those 3 again.

Wishing you health,
