There is a pretty decent article on how to littee box train (probably as much information as the book advertised in The Straight Poop and no charge for it!) on an Italian Greyhound website at http://www.kturby.com/litter/litter.htm .

As a breeder, my guys are all quite well papertrained when they leave home at around 12 weeks and are on a pretty regular schedule for eating and pooping. New owners haven't had much trouble continuing paper training (when getting pups in yucky spring rains or winter snow) in a new environment - and if you get a pup from a breeder who has trained the pup to go in a specific area I would imagine teaching him a litter box was "the place" to go wouldn't be all that hard.
