Yes. It is the same way with my mom. She tried so hard...and even wanted to

believe in alternative methods, and natural things...but they just had her

over a barrel and too scared.

They had her believeing that if she did not do what they said and told her

to do, she would be even sicker and die. SO sad.

She died of heart failure last summer after a valiant struggle.

Now that I really know all the HYPO symptoms, she was a total

dead-ringer...and adrenals too.

The poor woman was absolutely freezing at 68 degrees, but when it got over

74 degrees she was too hot.

SHe complained that she had no eyebrows left.

And talk about narcolepsy and sleep apnea. She would fall asleep right in

front of us and start snoring eith her eyes wide open, until she woke from

not breating right....then she would not remember that she had been asleep.

SHe had zero energy during the day, said she felt utterly wiped out and

slept a lot, but miraculously...woke up late at night and then got some

energy, doing her chores in the middle of the night

She had long hair until she died, and was so amazed that her very straight

hair had become wavey and somewhat coarser...even though 1/2 of it had

fallen out.

Her digestion was poor, but she thought it was great.

She had a bad high blood pressure problems and it was a real probelm to

medicate it down. And her colesterol was always being medicated for. She

finally practically quit eating anythig good for her, becasue she thought it

would raise her colesterol and blood pressure. They had her on

everything...except thyroid, of course.

They had had her on thyroid when she was younger, but at a time when my

father left for Europe to work on his doctorate, and she was alone with me

as a young teen, they said she no longer needed thyroid and they simply

stopped the prescription. Gee...I wonder if that is why she suddenly had the

" nervous breakdown " or psychotic break or whatever you would call it. She

went to a psychiatrist, but was too paranoid of her...

Months later, with no other help except for some time, she slowly came out

of it on her own.

Oh, I forgot all the bruising from virtually nothing all the time.

ANyway, by now I could be simply reciting what is aon Dr Rind's chart.

It took me awhile to really put the pieces together and I guess I have

needed to write about it. (Mercury issues were also at play for her, but not

to the degree that I have them. Interesting, since mothers pass a sh*tload

on to their unborn children when their immune systems are not yet developed)

I believe she pretty much died of thyroid related heart failure, further

complicated by prescription drugs.

My reason for bothering to write this, (other than getting it off my chest)

is just to say that we can not bring our beloved mothers back, but we can

carry the torch in their names by doing what we are doing....whch is NOT

BUYING INTO THE CRAP THAT THE AMA WOULD WANT US TO BELIEVE, and by

participating in a site like this and speaking up and helping wherever we

can.

Okay...maybe sometimes we will even make mistakes or be wrong here or there,

but the point is that we are speaking up, cutting the crap, and demanding

that our voices be heard....taking charge of our own lives/bodies.

In a much broader scope of vision, therein lies the real healing and

miracle in all of this.

SO in memory of our mothers and dear ones, I support and applaud all of

those who are brave and willing to not buy into the system and to get up on

their soap boxes when they can, and scream bloody murder.

(The sad issue remains our community concern that there may be a possibility

this site is having a negative effect on the availability of ARMOUR

thyroid.)

Enough said. I just wanted to think about the point that their lives and

ailing will not have been in vain, if it serves as an impetus for our quest

in seeking truth and healing for all.

For Mom,

~Inga

PS - My next question is:

" Why are out thyroids not functioning the way they should? "

the B12 is for pernicious anemia? is the folic acid for a specific

Cindi this is so true! As you know but others here may not, my Mom was also a

suicide. Thirty-five years young! But she also had untreated undiagnosed hypo.

She was not autopsied but had all the symptoms. And the depression. I hope we

all can honor our lost loved ones that have gone due to this disease and the

lack of medical treatment by helping others to never have to go there. I know

several of my groomer friends have given in to me and are now on treatment for

their thyroids and that alone makes me feel wonderful! One woman I know in

Northern NY that is now getting Armour was very close to suicide a couple years

ago, and now is feeling so much better. Makes me feel SO good.

Inga - What you wrote is so true. My grandma died last year and she

suffered her whole life because of what drs did to her. I try to tell

myself that the drs didn't know any better back then. But, when I

talk to Grandma's friends, they say what the drs did to Grandma was

criminal.

After my mom, she had 4 full-term stillborn children (due to Rh factor

which was just being discovered at the time.) She felt the first 2

moving right up until birth, but the last 2 she knew were dead, but

the dr made her carry them to full term. She carried the 4th one for

a month -- knowing it was dead. Supposedly, the drs felt that it was

better for her to have a " natural " delivery.

Well, that dead baby was just like a poison inside her. From then on,

Grandma had constant problems with her nerve endings. She was so

sensitive to things touching her in certain spots. She had tons of

allergies and was quite sickly. Lots of problems with bowel movements

and with her periods. At one point she was diagnosed with Hepatitis.

Years later, they felt it was really celiac sprue.

Of course, Grandma never let anyone know how bad she felt. She was

such a wonderful, pleasant lady. After she died, I found lots of

notes she made thru the years regarding her health. She had so many

more problems than any of us knew. After the 4th stillborn, she

almost had a breakdown and there were lots of notes about the dr

giving her a pink pill or an orange pill, etc. She had lists of

questions written to ask the dr and some of them said " Am I going crazy? "

It makes me so incredibly sad for what she went thru. I have no doubt

that she had thyroid problems and certainly adrenal from what she went

thru with the babies. Sometimes, when I felt my worst, I would think

how if I didn't have my kids, it would be so easy to end it all. But,

then I'd think of what Grandma went thru -- and then how could I do

that to myself. She'd be so mad at me!

So I will continue to fight and get better to continue Grandma's

legacy and to honor her memory. She never quit fighting and her

fighting spirit is in me too. She would be very proud of how far I've

come. She would have loved to have had the internet and the

opportunity to be in groups like this. I so wish I could talk to her.

She has definetely been my inspiration thru all this to keep going.
