Welcome Irma & Sharrell,

You both had questions about IDC Grade 3, which my tumor was, so let me

first say that it is very treatable.

Irma, you won't know your stage until after your surgery. Staging is

based on the size of your tumor and whether there are any nodes

involved. An MRI won't tell you that.

Sharrell, I am er/pr-,her2+ stage 1. I was diagnosed last Sept. so just

had my one year anniversary. This kind of tumor responds well to chemo,

so I did adriamycin, cytoxan, and am on a year of herceptin. There is a

new test (TOPO II) to determine if you'll respond well to adriamycin,

which can be a harder chemo to tolerate. Please ask your oncologist

about that test. It's pretty new so it's not available everywhere.

I decided to do chemo every 2 weeks instead of every 3 weeks to get it

over with more quickly. The herceptin has some side effects, but I'm at

least 85-90% back to my pre-chemo health/energy levels.

These treatments and surgeries are all very doable. You've come to the

right group for support and experiece!

take care,

Welcome to the group. I was diagnosed with Stage II, infiltrating ductal

carcinoma back in May 1990. You won't know the stage till you get the pathology

report back. I had a mastectomy,. 6 mo chemo, no radiation and no

reconstruction. So far I am doing fine.

I will keep you in my prayers.

Hello ! I'm a new member.

Hello Everyone,

I just joined this group because I feel so confused

and devastated by the news that I have breast cancer.

I was just diagnosed on 9/25/06, with invasive ductal

carcinoma Grade 3. I am besides myself with fear and

disbelief. I am having surgery next week 10/12/06 and

that date is exactly 1 yr from when I had my last

mammography indicating BI-Rads 1! I don't know the

Stage I'm in because I'm waiting for my MRI report.

Everything I read on IDC and the grade score of 3

points to poor prognosis. I just needed to join a

group where I feel I'm not alone.

God Bless!

Dear Irma,

I had my surgery for a lumpectomy on8/28/06 and I had my first visit with the

oncologist on 9/27/06. One of the best things for me was really two things - !.

reading as much as info. as I could on the internet( lucky that I have access to

the net at work) and keeping my mind occupied with other things.

I am presently waiting for them to finish doing a test on some of the tissue

that they removed to see whether or not that they are going to give me chemo. or

something else. The surgeon already told me that I would have to have radiation

treatments.

I hated the waiting time between the surgery (and post-ops) and the time that

I saw the oncologist as that is the time that I worried the most but that is the

time that I used to get most of the info. and talked to other women on line

which helped.

Hi Irma, Be strong and just to let you know your not alone, the first time I had

cancer I was 33 and it was grade 9 stage II. Hang in there and be strong for

yourself. I survived and made it 14 years almost to date with recurrance and I

am still here. What's that old saying when the going gets tough the tough get

going. That's all of ladies who have had to deal with breast cancer. Bless you.

Hope your surgery went well. Theresa T.

Irma,

There are so many out here who know just how you feel, it is a scary thing I

know. I was misdiagnosed and 4 years later told I had it and I freaked b'cuz is

has years to get travel all around my body. Do your research. Read Dr. Weil,

look into the Gerson Therapy, Be choosy about your doctors, remember, you are in

control of making the decisions so be informed because they tend to rush you

through the process. I made my doctors wait for more than 2 months so I could

get my head around what the hell was going on. I researched like a madwoman.

They tried to get me into surgery immediately. I said no, and I am so glad I

did that. Cancer inc. is what an aquaintence of mine calls it. There are

positives that come from this so keep an open mind and remember to be gentle

with yourself, now is the time to listen to your inner heart and follow it.

Lots of love and light

just mentioned Dr. Weil. Is that the name or just the

Thank you Debra! I am confused now because it appears

that many ladies get chemo then surgery. I am going

into surgery 17 days after finding out. I have my DR's

appt. on 10/9 to discuss my MRI report and then to

talk about my surgery. I know the Grade is 3 but not

the stage yet. Its just a step by step process and I

just want straight answers and thats not going to

happen.

Hi Irma,

For some women with a large tumor, they get chemo before surgery to

shrink it. If the tumor is smaller women usually do surgery first. It

sounds like you probably have a smaller tumor, so you'll have surgery

first, and then based on what type of tumor and your stage your

oncologist will make a recommendation. The waiting is the hard part.

Hi!!

Dr. Weil is the author of the book. He is an MD who is a huge believer in

integrative medicine ie: natural medicine. He is an inspiring lecturer so if

you can find any DVD's to watch definately do that. He has written several

books and is very well known. Some of the titles are " Health and Healing " and

" Eating well for optimum health " . I saw a Naturopathic doctor a month before I

started chemo, I was panicking and wanted to make sure i was really strong

before during and after. I did intense cleansing. I purchased the " Incurables "

month long cleanse package from a website (Dr. Shultze). Dr Shultze is a doctor

who believes that the body has the potential to fight diseases like cancer. If

I had had more money I would have gone completely natural. Chemo can kill you

instead of help you. So both myself and my boyfriend did the cleanse but only

for 2 weeks instead of 4 and we felt amazing. Our eyes were so bright and light

in color after about 3 days and we felt

like crap for the first weeks while all the toxins were getting leached out of

our systems then we gained a lot of energy. I juice every day and throw green

leafy veggies in a blender with a banana and any sweet fruit along with parsley

and OJ. Our motto is " JUST GET IT IN! " It's important to get fresh organic

live food in there, get it in you need the arsenal to fight right now. Do not

believe the people who tell you " just go ahead and eat whatever you want " they

are WRONG. Find a good Naturopathic doctor who knows about cancer or some other

natural medicine doctor, but they have to have credentials. There are serious

natural medicine schools in the Northwest and other parts of the country. I

have a website I will have to find to locate a good doctor in your area. I am

in Southern California. Don't let them rush you before you do the reseach you

need. Believe me I know the horror, the hours spent sifting through this

website, that website. Crying in front of

the computer for hours, I did all that. Dr. Weil is a great place to start and

do some cleansing. Coffee enemas are the best absolutley BEST way to detox the

fastest. They took care of my killer migranes and skin rashes immediately.

These were issue my doctors could not remedy. My naturopathic saved me. One

morning after not sleeping all night as was the case every night, my migraine

was killing me so I took a percocet then another then another then a vicodin

then something else, I was beside myself and yelling at the nurse on the phone

and crying inconsolably. They ordered a brain scan for me. My naturopathic

doctor recommended coffee enemas, within 24hours even my skin rashes receded

like waves on the beach pulling back out to sea, I could see it before my eyes,

it was crazy! Okay, this email is sooo long, sorry! I hope I have helped you

in some way. Oh yeah, your skin is going to get really dry so buy some facial

oil they probably sell it in the " cancer "

store along with the prosthetics and bras and scarves etc... Your mouth gets

really unpleasant as well so get some special germ killing mouthwash and mouth

gel for the saliva that's going to go missing. Yoga for relaxation saved me and

so did lots of baths. I always took salt baths to detox by the 2nd or 3rd day.

Saunas are great for detoxing too, after the 2nd or 3rd day get that stuff out

of your body as fast as you can, these are just some of the ways. Gotta run!

Love a
