OKAY...I'm working on this... They found in tissue slices of the amydala...less nuerons in the Autism samples. This is at the M.I.N.D. Institute. Of course....there is no way we could get tissue slices of hypo brains. No such program. I'd love to see the comparison. Autism Speaks has kicked in the big bucks for the tissue slicing. I'd say a neuron count is in order for sure for the hypos. Something governing social skills goes down the tubes in the hypo in same fashion. I feel like my little conductor guy has passed out cold on me. Apparently it looks as if the sex drive decreases in the Aspserger's folks and they can kind of exist in their own little world just like the hypo. They say the auto-immune

disease runs heavily in the family of the Autistm/Asperger folks. Hmmmnnn. ~E:) lyongillespie wrote: HEY!My scandalous brain is chomping away here.We know that dimentia caused by hypothyroidism can mimick what some call Altzhiemer's. What do we know about that same dimentia being called austism when it shows up in the young? People dismiss this idea

flatly. How do we know they are right? Did they test these kids and know what they were looking for in the bloods? Is it such a sensitive idea..that people CAN'T discuss it?I'm still wondering. Bill Gates has Asperger's they say. Does anyone here have that? ~E:) TOTAL-Thyroidectomy 26 months post-op.

Hmm.... I don't have Asperger's but I have thought I have at various points in time. Dan Akroid has it also. I think any 'disease' can be caused or mimic anything... let's just see if the medical community figures that out to help save some people :).

For what its worth, i used to have a couple students with aspergers and its definitely something i can usually spot within the first couple minutes of meeting a kid. there is just something very specific about it that i would have to assume goes much deeper than thyroid. Anything is possible though

-Eve-

Like the OCD part or the low sex drive part.

I don't know much about the Asperger's/Autism....my post was more of a question...since there appears to be some similarities to me.

hypothryoidism? That is very interesting to me. . : I don't know about Dan Akroid...but you can read about people supposing that Bill Gates and many other famous folks have it. I only find it interesting....just interesting... that many of the same things listed as ASPERGER type presentations

sound so similar to hypothyroidism.....and since we know it can be tricky to get a diagnoisis of thyroid disease....how many people really have one or both (thyroid disease and Aperger's)..or actually have one in the SAME disease just called a different name? It seems that some of the Asperger's folks go for doc to doc and get different diagnosis just as we do. ~E:) TOTAL-Thyroidectomy 26 months post-op.

Anything is possible though -Eve- . EVE: Thanks for your reply. EVER since I lost

the person I was to this thyroid thing...I can't help being ever so interested in how the brain plays such a role in behavior. WE have all been told Frued was right about everything and that the organic brain plays no role..for so long. I am in the middle of reading a book on Alzheimer's and it turns out that Freud in his day fought with folks who felt that there was an organic basis for behavior. So much for all so Sally Jessy Rapheal show saying that "our Momma's make us" crazy and if just got over how she liked our siblings better...WE'd be better off. When I lost my mind...I saw a show on Autism...and it sooooo described how I was thinking. Suddenly the important and imperitive WERE invisible and making sense of things slipped away. I noticed things...but not the most important. IT was hard for me to decipher where someone was coming

from...and I couldn't help but focus on literal meanings rather than implied. The show I was watching that night...really helped me understand that the brain processes what it wants and it has nothing to do with WANTS... I didn't like being confused...YET I was. Even now...I can't make decisions. I try soo hard to chose between two things...and I feel TERRIBLE anxiety...before, during and after. THIS was not me before this. I was an influencer type that CARVED bit baths for myself in life and brought others along for the ride. NOW..chosing such between two sweaters at the store...HAS me entrenched for days...GOING back and forth to the same store. The autistic brain..and the amygdala. THAT is interesting too. The amygdala...from what I hear governs impulse and the more primitive ideation.

FEAR....risk and base emotion. What do you observe in these Asperger folks? ~E:) TOTAL-Thyroidectomy 26 months post-op.
