I DO know that folic and/or folinic acid is recommended to use with B12. Someone on another list had a child with problems with B12, she increased the folinic acid and he was better. My #3 will tolerate slightly more B12 with folic acid than without it. I can't give you recommended doses tho, altho I can let you know what I give my own kids, if you want. Guest guest
> > > Dana, I would really appreciate knowing the folic acid amounts you use in > your kids. Thanks so much for your help! These are ORAL doses. I have 500 mcg tablets B12 which I cut into quarters, so I give 125 mcg, occasionally 250 mcg. When I give 125 mcg B12, I give 800 mcg folic acid with it. When I give 250 mcg B12, I give 1600 mcg folic acid. Once I accidentally gave one of my kids 250 mcg B12 and only 800 mcg folic acid, and my son had emotional problems that day. Good luck. When do you think I > should give the folic acid - every day or on the nights I give the m-B-12? > Thanks, Dana! I think I would give 800 mcg on the " off " days, and maybe more on the days you give the injection. See if that helps. For many kids who do well with B12 shots, they are using folinic acid. Maybe ask your doctor to rx that for you? Dana
