Guest guest
Ugh Pam! I'm sorry you had a day from you know where. Luckily, though you had the air conditioning on - with the weather as hot as it is, you would have had to bust the window open yourself had the air not been on. Don't you just love those happy little " safety features? " Hope you got some good sleep last night, and you're feeling better today! Holly Zachary 7/27/02 #2 1/8 > Oh, the stress of it. When we left the YMCA he had fallen asleep. We went home. There was a note taped on my front door (before I left I had called the city because our sewer alarm was going off). I knew the note had to be about this. I pulled in the driveway. Attempted to open the garage door (our garage door opener is programmed into the van) it wouldn't open. So I backed the van up a little because that's what I usually have to do so it'll open it up. I had already cracked my door. Not thinking about it when you place the van in reverse it automatically locks all the doors (a safety feature ha! not this time). I place the van in park go ahead and get out go and retrieve the note read it go to get back in the van and..........all the doors are locked. Both sets of keys are inside (one in the ignition and one in my purse and is asleep in his carseat. But the only good thing is the airconditioner is on. I call my husband at work. He is not happy with me. I first tried to call OnStar because our van is equipped with that. We actually had service for the first year but I never renewed because there was always something else I could do with that two hundred and some dollars at the time. So I ask if they can sign me back up and immediatly open my doors. Well turns out they couldn't because they had lost contact with my car. The only way they could is if I pushed the blue button inside the car. I start trying to wake up thinking maybe I can talk him out of his carseat and into the front seat so he can push a button to roll down the window or unlock the door or push that %&*@ blue onstar button. After fifteen minutes my knuckles were purple and starting to swell a bit. New route. I called Cingular roadside assistance and they start trying to find a locksmith for me. My husband was already trying to find a locksmith at work. Another 10 minutes passes more knocking, hollering his name...he starts to wake up but he is not going to cooperate. He is tired and mad. I call the Sheriff's office. They are also sending an officer. He gets there about 10-15 minutes later. He tries and tries and can't get it open. My husband comes home from work in the meantime. The officer did get one of the back windows popped open so we could talk to him better. A wrecker shows up with instruments to pry the door open and stick something through the door to push the automatic lock with.... in the meantime another locksmith calls and says he is on his way. About 2 minutes later the wrecker guy gets it open. is happy to be free. The van door does have a little scratch on it and the window makes a little noise when you roll is up and down but he's out and safe. (And my husband took away his key and told me never to use it again--we were going to the pool it was so much easier there was just one key on it) He just keeps telling everybody " My mommy locked me in the car. " He also got a toy at Wal-Mart tonight without even asking. I'm still upset about the whole thing. I'm going to bed. Sorry such a long story. Just had to share my day. Good night, Pam and (who is upstairs safely sleeping in his bed:) 8-12-01)
