Welcome! I wanted to let you know that having my WLS was the best thing

that I've ever done for myself and my family. I have a son and am

expecting again in Jan. I was 320 pounds and have lost around 120

pounds in a years time, even being pregnant. Yes, it there is risk just

like any other surgery. You have risk when you go under anesthesia,

having surgery, risk of blood clots, etc. But you have look at the pros

and cons of it all during your research. Make contact w/ people who

have had the WLS done and talk w/ them one on one. I did that and it

really helped me in my decision. I wanted to be healthy for myself, my

son and my husband. I was tired of packing around all the weight, I

have PCOS so I couldn't get the weight off because of that, and I just

felt terrible. It is a life-altering decision, and one not to be taken

lightly. But if you're willing to chance some aspects, this will be a

wonderful tool in your new life. I would have it done 100 X again!

Good luck and ask, ask, ask the questions you have. This is a wonderful

group to get great advice from!

New Member Intro :)

Hello everyone,

I have posted little notes, but haven't intro'd myself yet. I figured

that it's time. I think it's great that you all are here, it's

wonderful that this great support group is available!

I hope that I'm not here too soon, I've yet to have the WLS. I want to,

yet I don't. I joined here hoping that some of you could help me think

thru this process. I would do it in a heartbeat if I knew what life

after surgery would be like. I have a now 15 month old DD, and know

that my life HAS TO CHANGE! I am fearful of how it will effect future

pregnancies and breastfeeding. If I didn't want to have more children I

would do this tomorrow. Can some of offer some guidance?

I am 5'8 with about 125 lbs to loose. My pcp brought it up with me last

month and have been researching it everyday since then. :) If you

know of any Dr's in the Dallas area that you would recommend please let

me know!

I guess that is it, oh I'm 26 married to a great man and a sahm for my

15 month old, I also work as a breastfeeding educator. I don't know a

lot about BFing after wls, but I am learning and would welcome any

BF'ing questions! :)

It's nice to meet you all, I hope to get to know you all better. I also

want to say I'm sorry to hear about some of your losses- I haven't had

mc's but my mom had 7 and it was terrible to loose the babies. I send

you all hugs and will be praying for you!

Thanks so much!

~

Hi and welcome...

life after wls?? Imagine getting down on your hands and knees and rolling

around with your DD! AND not hurting while doing it!! AND, having the

energy to JUMP up and fix you both a snack after playing like that for an

HOUR.... that is life after WLS!! LOL!!

It is SO worth it... it saved my life, literally. I was given six months

to live... and had surgery two months before that six months was up! That

was 20 months ago, and now I am 14 weeks pregnant with my first child,

ever, after having been told by numerous docs/specialists that I would

never be able to have any children, AT ALL.

SO... weigh the pluses and minuses carefully... make your own decision...

but check out as many of us posties as you can for our stories before you

do! You can read my profiles on obesityhelp.com if you want to see my

whole story -- it starts under sharon brittain (I'm in Michigan). I have a

friend in the Dallas area that recently had wls... I'll find out her

surgeon info for you if you like... okay!

Warm hugs and warm welcomes!

,

I fogot to mention... the night before surgery I was 378 lbs, I lost 212

lbs in 18 months... and got pregnant 18 months after surgery... pregnancy

totally caught me unawares! LOL! I was about 20 lbs from the low end of my

goal weight scale... my doc didn't want me to lose anymore though! I had

actually started thinking about TT, when I found out I was pregnant!

Hugs
